Does anyone have any feed back on using Winn grips? I like the way they look and am considering using them on my next rod. But I have heard a few guys mention that they do not like the way the grips feel, especially when it is hot and sunny. Re: Winn Grips

It is a personal choice, many of my customers prefer them. Re: Winn Grips

I've built rods now with the Winn Grips. I love mine and the other two guys love theirs as well. Just fish a tournament last weekend were it rained all day and the rod and grips were awesome. Have not had in hot weather yet. I think they look great! Lots of other colors as well. Will be making more with the Winn's for sure! Re: Winn Grips

The people I build for love them. Never heard of hot weather issues with them, and I’m in the Deep South.

I have customers that love the Winn Grips, and others that prefer Cork, or EVA. Seems like the more choices we have to offer our customers, the better we like it . I have not had any issues with Winn Grip failures or problems. As with any fairly new product there is a learning curve for the builder or manufacturer. Elmer at, Winn Grips does his best to help with installation problems. And he really needs to hear from us if we do have a problem with the grips. Re: Winn Grips

I build sport teams theme open and ice rods and use Winn grips because of the different colors they come in. I paint the blanks one color for ice rods. Pick a color for the Winn grip and wrap the guides in another color. Example: I live in North Dakota, so everyone has heard of NDSU Bison in college football. I paint the blank Hunter green, I use the Winn 1 1/2" butt grip and the 3 1/2" straight taper in red and make a split grip. I wrap the guides in gold thread. My customers love the looks of their rods and feel of Winn grips. When it comes to open water rods? I buy my blanks from Rodgeeks. I am making a spiral wrap casting rod. I bought the blank from Rodgeeks painted half red and half white. I ordered all blue winn grips and blue guides. going to wrap the guides in blue. Its going to be my patriotic rod. You won't go wrong with using Winn grips. Re: Winn Grips

I used one on a rod that I built for my wife. The grip looks great on the rod and she and I both love to fish it. For some reason, I always like fishing with her rods! She has some arthritis in her hand and it feels more comfortable to her. Re: Winn Grips
