When putting these grips on do you have to ream them like you would cork or do you choose the hole size when buying?

I've been ready up on these birch bark handles people build on here (they look awesome by the way) and was wondering why don't they just put a thin layer of epoxy or permagloss over the handle to seal it up? Would it eventually crack or wear away? Was just curious.
Thanks, Trace.

And I also was wondering about which alcohol to use. I keep reading about different ones not recommended and then someone else will recommend them! Was just curious what you guys thought?

100. Stripper guide
I've been looking through past posts but couldn't find nothing on the topic of stripper placement from reel seat. Is that something you figure out when you do a static test or is there a 'everybody puts the guide here' way? And if anybody knows of a sweet how to video on spiral wrapping that would be sweet!
Thanks, Trace Butkovich.

102. Re: Hover blank
Thanks randy, what would you recommend instead of micros or when I order a smaller ring size do they just automatically shrink height wise to and change to single foot? Probably making it more confusing then it really is????

103. Re: Hover blank
Still trying to get some terminology down to, are the guides towards the end of casting rods called micro guides or is there a better guide to use to keep the line a little off the blank?

105. Re: Hover blank
Sweet thanks, how about ideas for spiraling your guides. how does a guy position his eyes so the line don't bunch up on one side of the casting reel or is that even a problem?

107. Hover blank
Ok another question for you guys, I'd like to build my father in law a rod for hover fishing in the Columbia River. The blank I need needs to be sensitive enough to feel the bite and be able to handle a 3-5 oz weight with 20 to 30# braided line. Not so sure about the action because I'm still not to familiar with that, if anyone has any suggestions that would be great!
Also any tips and tricks

108. Color preserver
Hope I'm not bugging you guys with all the questions but the Fuji Ultra Poly NOCP Rod Building Thread claims that you don't need color preserver has anyone had any experience with it? Would it hurt to put it on anyways?

Don't want to steal the thread here but the tip of my blank is slightly bent What would happen if a guy were to cut like six inches or so off?

Do a lot of walking through brushy areas so that would be the reason for the two piece.

Hey thanks!
I agree on that they are better for casting and such but there heavier and where I usually fish there are trees and such in the way. Just a lot easier to do with a shorter pole.

114. Twitching for coho
Hi folks, I'm curious if anyone on this forum twitches for coho in the Northwest and if so what's a good 2 piece blank that's not over 9' and sensitive enough to feel the bit while the line is loose? If that's even possible!

115. Sensitivity
You guys probably get this a lot but how do you tell if the blank your going to buy is sensitive enough and if it's a good blank?
