They have them already made into cores. I am looking for the mix so I can make them myself.

I have searched and can not find where you can get the supplies to make your own foam cores. I had bought some several years ago but forgotten where I bought them.. Does anyone have an idea as to where one can buy the 2 separate parts to make your own cores? I know that Riley Rods had the kits but what I have read is no one can get in touch with Mike.

I have used these labels for a while. The problem with the edges lifted is very great with mine. I am using the 1/2 tape white on clear. I have found that I need to use perma seal or perma gloss over the edges and let it dry. Then apply finish. sometimes they still tend to lift.

Tom mention in a thread a ways down that there is going to be some new epoxy out that is water based. Will they be at the show at High Point? Will it be for sale there or is there a place we can purchase it now? If anyone can say.

You can use a reelseat from Swampland Tackle. They have the castaway seats that do not have the vents in them so it will go on the blank with no troubles at all. Give them a shout.

I use guide foot adhesive. It works great for me. Just hold the guide with small pliers and heat the end with a lighter. Then touch to the adhesive and the apply to rod. After you wrap you can still move guide for adjustment.

On the ones that I build I have started with 3mm butt guide and placed it 24 in from the reel and they seem to work fine. I dont think that it matters that you should bring the butt guide closer just because it is smaller than you normally use. Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in on this because I would like to know if I an wrong or not.

I have seen where people would just put the fly in the cork grip instead of a hook keeper. With a carbon grip that is not an option.

Trying to finish up a fly rod. I have installed a carbon fiber grip. My question is... Do I need to install a hook keeper on it. This is only my 3rd fly rod to build. I didn't put one on the other two but they did not have a carbon grip..

I have purchased an xps weighted butt cap for a fishing rod that I have built. The problem is that I can not seem to find the insert that the cap fits to. Does anyone have an ideas how to get one. Bass Pro doesn't sell this part so the cap is useless to me right now. I tried to make one myself out of acrylic that you mix but it would not hold up and split in half.

Which would you prefere to use to clean up epox? Currently I am using threadmaster light on all my builds. sometimes I get finger prints on part of the blank where it should not be. I am trying to be more careful. 91% alcohol doesn't seem to get it as clean as I would like it to be. Would denatured work better than 91% or do I need to go to acetone?

Can not seem to find any info on the company that was selling the uv epoxy and the drying oven from the Expo. Has anyone out there used it yet? Just curious how it performs. I would think that since the epoxy drys by uv light then it will continue to dry while in use fishing. Would this be a problem over time? I dont know. If anyone has the web site of this company I would really like to lo

Over the past couple of months I have applied thread master light to over 100 rods and most of them turned out sticky after several days and months of drying. It seems to be getting worse as the temperature has risen where I live. Even on some rods that were not sticky in Feb are now becoming sticky to the touch. Just found out what I did wrong. I was measuring equal parts by grams using an

I have done a spiral wrap with all 3 mm guides. I set the rod up as a simply spiral and then added 2 transtion guides between the butt guide and first guide on bottom. Grant it they are alot closer to each other than if you where to use just a spiral wrap starting with a 6 and then going down. Got great casting distance with it I have to say.

Just finished one myself. My butt guide is 24 in from reel. Started with size 5 then 4.5, 4 , 3.5 then all 3's to tip. Total number of guides was 12 plus tip top. I used 3 guides for transition not counting the top and bottom guide. Went out and cast the rod and slung all the line off of the reel. Very impressed with how this one preforms.

Looking to do a spiral wrap with micro guides. Did a search and could not find answer. What would you suggest to start guides off at butt end? Thought about starting with a 5mm and working my way down to all 3's. NOt sure about the transition though. Usually I use a 2 guide system to get the guides to the bottom. That being one as normal on top. 2 transition guides to get to the bottom. W

I now a true believer in guide foot adhesive. Just wrapped a micro rod using size 3mm guides all on top. I have been using tubing from mudhole to hold guides in place while trying to wrap them...Problem was that the guides kept moving on me. Used foot adhesive and problem solved. Thanks to whomever posted several wks ago about using it. Now it dosen't take nearly as long to wrap as it did.

Should I use the same size guides on both rods? On the spiral rod I used 8-7-6-5-5-5-5 and on the conv wrap I used 16-12-10-8-7-7-7... I can rewrap the spiral if I need to change them to match.
