Removing a reel seat using a hacksaw. Use a spiral cut "almost" through the seat, then pry apart with a flat tip screwdriver. This reel seat was a very tight fit on the blank and there was no damage to the blank itself.

My first attempt at a fly rod. It's a 14 WT 9' 4 piece for messing around in the surf/sound. I'm going to add a fighting foregrip as soon as I find what fits my hand best. I thought putting together a spinning or baitcasting rod had alot to consider.....this fly rod stuff is far more complicated if you ask me. lol

My first butt wrap using single thread passes. I didn't follow any pattern, just made it up as I went along (free wrapping?). I guess I should make some notes in the future in case I come up with something I really like. lol

Thought I'd post a pic of a reel seat removal. Used a hacksaw (spiral cut) to "almost" cut through the seat, a screwdriver to gently twist it apart, and 20 minutes time. The trick is to not cut through the seat, but let the screwdriver do the work of prying it apart. depending on the rods age, heat might sometimes be required. This one just popped right apart!

22 year old St. Croix 10' heaver that I recently reworked for my brother. Jesse Buky "Bad to the Bone" fish. I'm never going to learn how to weave if I keep hanging around his shop!

Didn't use any sort of pattern (wrapping from the hip) just tried to carry-over the Flag theme. I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. I know, the number of stripes isn't right....next time. lol.

Since I haven't started weaving (yet) I thought I'd post a pic of an alternative. Two dollar iron-on patch from Wally World, set into the EVA foregrip.
