You can do it that way or on the butt end install a butt cap over the cork tape. I’ve installed heat shrink tubing over the cork tape and that makes a nice grip or maybe a small piece of shrink tubing at the beginning of the cork tape.

I have a Clemens lathe too, I think it’s the best rod lathe ever made. I just turned a reelseat insert with it with no problems. My question is I would like to change the part on the thread carriage that puts pressure on the thread. Does anyone make better parts to tighten the thread?

I remember using his finishes, was it Crystal Coat? I remember his color preserver Brilliance, smelled like water down Elmer’s glue. I did like his products dried nice and clear. I also have the Clemens lathe, I think it’s the the best rod lathe ever made. I have all the parts that were made for it and I can do just about any thing on it.

Dayton also makes a solid state speed control. I’ve been using one for years on my Clemens lathe. I plug my foot pedal in the outlet then the motor is plugged into the speed control and then the control is plugged into the foot control

I have a older Renzetti lathe that is known as a Clemens lathe. I bought all the parts for the Clemens lathe, tailstock, toolrest and boring tool. With those tools my Clemens lathe with turn any parts or grips for any fishing rod. I just turned a reelseat insert from Reel seat blanks and it worked great. Only problem is Renzetti doesn’t make those parts anymore. So you almost need another lathe t

I have a Clemens rod lathe and I love it. Bought it 35 years ago and it still looks like the day I bought it, but if I was looking to buy a rod lathe I would buy a new one. I think I would take a look at the new lathe mudhole is selling, they are going to have a Facebook live demo on it Tuesday night. Check it out.

These were brand new decals. I burns them real good with my finger and then a burnishing tool. I followed Mudhole directions and both decals curled up at the edges after applying Procote. I did email Mudhole, so I'll wait to see what they say.

25. Decals
Have anybody have trouble with Mudhole's decals ? I bought 2 from Mudhole, I installed them just like they showed on Facebook live and both decals peeled away from the blank when I applied the Procoat finish on. The edges peeled away. I am pretty upset with what happened. I can never trust there decals again.

I'm building a 12 wt fly rod. I'm planning to use Pac Bay Mimma 4 as guides a 16mm stripper then a 12 and then single foot 7s the rest of the way or would I be better off with single footed 8s? Thanks Mike

I have a Clemens lathe and I have a speed control that I put inbetween the foot pedal and the motor, that way I just use the foot pedal for a off and on switch and to slow the speed down even more.
