I would have to say it's the mandrel that stuck inside/broke during the extraction. Pretty weird but guess it could happen. Boron is not the best material for rod blanks. It came or comes as stranded in the carbon prepreg. The problem with boron is it is brittle and during the pattern layup, pattern cutting and rolling it could be damaged easy and also has been stuck in the hands of many workers

The ITM will be a crisper rod the VI Plus. It won't make the rod faster but it will recover a tad faster and the blank will tighten up a bit higher in the blank. They make great blanks and not many know about them. Which model # did you get?

Spraymax can be used over Duplicolor touch up paints it will not have an effect. The Spraymax isn't really super hot solvent, it is a true 2 part Auto finish used in two stage auto finishes. A two stage finish uses a single part color base ( flat finish) that is over coated with the tough 2K finish to give it gloss and protect it. A single stage is a gloss color coat 2K that needs no clear coat.

Billy, I'm using a Foredom all metal pedal ( they make a plastic too) and speed control. You won't find a more adjustable setup and no more over heating pedals or motors. Best thing I ever did on the lathe. I'll call you later this week about your lathe parts.

actually there are fewer 70/30 split blanks then there are 50/50. The thought with 70/30 splits is the longer tip is more like a 1pc, I disagree with this. I do like 70/30 splits on heavy long bait rods but on plugging blanks I feel it's hinders the action. With technology today 50/50 spilt rods bend just like 1pc rods and are just as strong. 70/30 split rods have long ferrules in the butt and th

Grainy finish is most likely to much air pressure, You moving the gun to fast over the surface or are too far away from the surface. You might have to small a nozzle/ needle but hard to say without actually doing it. I have not used Klasscoat so not sure if it's one part or two. If it's a two part depending on the temp outside and or humidity you must choose the right reducer which is fast, Med o

NOT an Epoxy and NOT to used without respirator.. a very good respirator! They are 11oz cans and can be had in single stage color and 2K color and clear. The colors are custom matched to any color code. with the clear you might get 2-3 coats on three freshwater blanks ( 7'6" and down ) or 2-3 coats on 2 surf size blanks 8'0 and up. I can't stress enough how careful you must be spraying thi

I did this years ago and I prefer the fine ground over anything and you don't need much so, a little is enough! I can't say for sure if this is true but I swear the glitter would make the epoxy set up faster!

Is it a Batson or an old Sabre/Pacbay, or a Cascade Composite. I know I have a blank with that # but it might be a GT not GRT.

I have fished from boats for them on the Columbia. Most used rods I saw were Lamiglas GSB120L and M. Everything else was 2 pc and the funny thing is the two pc blanks kicked the 1pc in power without question. You might want to look at the new Infinity surf from Lamiglas as well. I want to also mention Seekers CSW1008 and CSJ100. The CSJ action is GSB like but has a tad more bottom power and the C

I don't like all graphite or thin walls for boats. I would say a nice mid modulus ( IM6+ or IM7 type) range since most will still have some glass in them and they are durable within reason.

Many manufactuers out there make good spey rods. Kerry Berkheimer is one of the best though not sure he sells his blanks or not. Sage and Talon are two I have built on and both are very nice. Batson also makes nice stuff though I have only held them not built on the spey, I have built their float rods.

Dick Kanter developed brought this method to rod building in the late `80's and Fenwick had a line of single Helix blanks for a time but they never sold well. Dick then started Graphite USA and made the now well known GUSA blanks. Stephen Pratt of CTS uses this method on some of his line of NZ based blanks and was trained by Dick on how to do it. It basicly has been used by gold shaft manufactuer

I have two pro staff and everything you said is pretty much key! I have seen other companies prostaff say and do things that are not what I would want. One thing that must be watched is Pros taking product that you gave them to try or use and sell it out of their car trunk. This does two things makes your company look cheap, shady what ever, as well as undercut any dealer you have. Protecting
