Thanks for all the input. I have since done my research and found the info I need to determine guide location and sizing. I was trying to build the rods without having the reels. I now see that in order to do it properly I have to have the reels.
Thanks again,

Thanks folks.
I guess that answers my question. So to add to the confusion I guess the size of the choker guide and the first guide is also dependent on the spool diameter?

What is the diameter of the 2500 and 3000 series spinning reels? I assume the diameter is the same across manufacturers and this may be totally erroneous but I need a starting point.
I'm making spinning rods for my son and trying to set the guides per Tom Kirkmans 27 system but I don't know what to use for the diameter of the reels.
Thanks,
Jim

Has anyone put metal ferrules on graphite rods? I'm considering this as a repair to a broken graphite rod. If it can be done, what are the precautions I should take?

12. Tiger eye blanks
About 5 or 6 years ago I built a number of 6' 2 pc. ultra light action spinning rods using the Tiger Eye blank (GS-60-2UL) from Dave Sevier. Now I have one of them returned with a broken tip section. Since Dave is no longer in business I was hoping someone on the forum might have a replacement tip section I can buy. I'm also looking for a half dozen 2 pc fiberglass light action spinning blanks in

Tom,
By fixing the length to a specific number you aren't taking into account the length of the users arms.

17. reel seats
I was browsing through the photo's of reel seats and came across a beauty by Terry Henson. He credits David Mayer for a burl cleaning technique and Mark Blabaum for a CA application technique. Does anyone know where I can get more info on these techniques? Thanks

18. wavy gel coat
Does anyone have a way of smoothing out wavy gel coat? I have a 7" section of gel coat that is not smooth. I'd rather not sand it down and regel but I will if that's my only option.
Thanks
