Thanks Roger
Those matching Minima tip tops only come in a 4 size
I was hoping to hear from people who have tried that tip top on smaller weight fly lines and get feedback on whether a M10 stripper would be big enough or should I consider a M12
Thanks Again

I am sure this has been dealt with in the archives but I was hoping to get some feedback from more experienced builders before I place a mail order.
I live in Western Australia so I have to do quite a lot of "theoretical building" before I place mail orders and tweak out my guide spacings with what I have....
I thought I would try making a small stream fibreglass rod from a blank I

I made a simple lathe set-setup using a long machine screw and some clear tubing that barely fits in the butt end of the blank to make mandrels for each size of blank you are using. Expand the tubing with a nut so it bulges snugly in the blank then it is just a matter of putting a couple of holes in a sturdy cardboard box, sliding the blank in ahead of the cork blank then back the rear end out of

I second what Toms says on handle size...
I have built a couple of small fly rods utilising the small Pac Bay channel lock seat (CL7RC-C).
I would bet the small spinning version of these reel seats would work well and look good on an ultralight spinning rod.

I was looking into putting together a light saltwater jigging blank...
I am leaning towards a Matagi Flicker Seven 30 lb blank..
Does anyone have any thoughts on this blank or any other for ~20-50 metre water and ~ 40g to 150g jigs?
Thanks!

Sorry in advance if this is off topic...
I am trying to look for different light fly reel options for a 2 wgt blank I am finishing up...
I used to have a bookmark link to a website comprised of an extensive list of fly reels from different manufacturer's with accompanying photographs and short descriptions/reviews
I believe the site was based in France but I cannot seem to find it again

Hello,
I was hoping to try out a JR Jones Loc-down reel seat on a jigging rod that I was putting together
Merrick Tackle has them in their catalogue (jonlocdn20-B) but I am having trouble finding a retailer that can place a small mail order for me (reel seat, gimbal and a set of guides).
If someone could help me out I would appreciate a quick note at mark.m

11. Re: silk thread
I highly reccomend silk as I ended up using it on all my graphite rods so far (only five), I have split some bamboo but haven't finished my forms as yet.
Pearsalls is very nice but it is remarkably fine.....YLI #100 and even 50# burnish up very nicely and are quite a bit easier to work with.
I really like the translucent look, just go a few hues brighter/gaudier than you want the final wrap

I have fairly recently moved to Australia and I am building myself a surf rod (Mudhole LSB1502MH) and a 30-80# saltwater jigging rod (Calstar GF760/L).
My past experience has all been with much lighter fly rods and spinning blanks that I wrapped with either Pearsall's Gossamer for the lighter blanks or YLI 100 thread for the beefier blanks finished with spar varnish or permagloss, as I really
