Thanks Tom that article is what led me down the carbon fiber rabbit hole. I made a few and loved the look but dont really have a place to do extensive epoxy projects. Where I live now has me making rods in a small spare bedroom instead of the full shop I had when I was working. Great info and love the site.

Had good success with generic carbon fiber tubes ordered off internet from drone suppliers. A 3ft stick is like $20 compared to a 14 inch piece for the same money from rod making sites. Have used various methods to transition to the reel seat but over time I seem to get a bit of flex at that junction. Mudhole carries a dual tenon reel seat adapter for the new Fuji G2 carbon grips that I love. The

11 foot 2 1/4 pound test curve printed on rods. Understand that this is a european measurement of deflection. Looking for a similar acting ro blank to replace rod broken by a heartbroken buddy. Any ideas?

Could the same treatment be used to coat the Mudhole carbon fiber handle offerings?

Thanks Guys! One of the problems I have in evaluating blanks without the advantage of feel is determining the lock-up point. In fishing lite line and deep water, I feel that the more extreme tapers or even mult-tapers excel. I can handle a parabolic bend for a tube or even and drop-shot but I really want to be able to move my Lucky Craft when it gets a tick. Determined to improve on the IMX that

Looking for a reasonably (<$200) priced blank to build a jerkbait rod for a friend. He has been using G Loomis IMX medium fast action model sjr 782. This rod has a fast taper as many of their best sticks do. It need to have enough tip to work a jerkbait deep and enough backbone to fight big smallies from down deep.

Got a closeout set of casting rings a while back from Mudhole (GZBC casting). Didnt really have a blank for it then so I didnt order a tip top. When they closed out their Viper blanks I got one to make a kayak casting rod. It is a 6'6" med hvy blank with a size 5 top. Anyways I figured if anyone had a blue/ gold ring tip top it would be you fine gentlemen. I can use a black/gold if I need to

I was looking at these on the Mudhole site as well. Does anyone think they might need a seal coat on top of the fiber? I have wanted to build one from scratch but havent taken the time to yet. I may start with one of these and finish it out with spar or epoxy. What do you guys think? Dont mean to hijack the thread just wondering. Thanks

11. Re: Faux Method
If you search on some of the lure building sites, you will see that they use that tech a lot to add fin details and the like over foil. Take tissue paper like they use in shirt boxes and tape it to a regular piece of paper. After printing your pattern detach the tissue and epoxy it. Looks good over light colors as well as foil. The advantage of tissue over water slide decals is questionable. You

Thanks to Steve and Ron I have looked through the sponsors sites pretty well before posting and what I really need is not a winding check but one that is 1.070" OD 0.910" ID in gold and another in 1.105" OD and 0.995" silver. The IDs are less important. ALPS makes one as does Matagi but I just cant seem to find anyone with them on hand.
Thanks

I need a couple metal rings that will fit on between the grip and a #16 fuji ACS reel seat. I really can't wait to order from the Matagi site so I am looking for someone on the left who may stock them.
Thanks

There is a thin brass tubing that will just fit over the mandrel. I use 1/4 mandrels so I use a 7mm tube when I stick one. Hobby Shops that carry RC airplane parts should carry them. I have found this when I started making pens and found that the tubes that they are turned on were the exact right size to fit over the 1/4 mandrels. I also have a set of gasket cutters that will fit over 3/8 rod. Th
