I have 11 of them plus a baggy of ferrules. You can have them for the postage if you want. I have toted them around the country for way too many years and not used them. There are 7 that say Lew's Fuji Speed Fit pistol grip, 3 that just say Fuji Speed Fit pistol, and 1 Fuji Speed Fit with a long straight rear grip. Shoot me an email/pm or whatever and we can set it up. Greg

Good Morning, I have been recruited to give a beginning rod builder class during a trip to Nashville next month. Looks like I am going to be short drying motors and wrappers for the class. If any rod builders in the general area would be willing to donate some for the weekend of June 6/7 there would be much rejoicing. I have done a few classes up here so have enough for dozen or so people

Not being a "Sturgeon guy" need a little help on recommendations/experiences on blanks. Have a guy who wants a rod for sturgeon on the Snake in the 10 foot range for length. He is adamant about it being 1 piece. Does most of his fishing from a boat. Doesn't want a noodle but not a clubby blank either. I have built him a couple of 7 footers on Rainshadow RCLB70ML blanks with good reports

Sometimes when I do a fade I will add in a single thread of metallic in the middle of a transition to add a little contrast but using it as a full part of the fade is usually too much. It is not the gradual change one would usually want. The metallic makes it way to abrupt.

I have used the Batson F764-5 blank for numerous pack rods. I use the Tennessee handle with slip rings and a combination of spin and single foot fly guides. Fishes great. The cast a 4 or 5 st. fly line well and will cast a small spinner/spoon pretty good also. A bonus to a backpacker is that the finished rod weight next to nothing and is short enough broken down to fit into a day pack.

I actually us a router speed controller from Harbor Freight to slow down my power wrapper. Works well and have had no problems. It can be used adjustable or switched to full speed.

Tend to agree with Adam on this one. Paying mostly for the Loomis name anymore. The Lamiglas LMB series or a St. Croix SC3 or SC4 would be more bang for the buck. Also maybe try one of the Batson Mag taper blanks. I have used other models of theirs and been very happy with them. I am building one on a Lami LMB 845 right now for the flipping/pitching thing though I use 50 lb. braid instead of mono

That is all I use any more with a double for the first and maybe the second as I do all of mine spiral wrap and just like the thought of a little more support for the transition guide.

Most of their blanks are made right there in Woodland, WA. The International series are made overseas. Everything else, as far as I know is made right here. I also have been to their factory. Can be very interesting for someone who has not been to a rod manufacturer.

I am refurbishing an old Montague Eel River combo rod for someone and was wondering if anyone could help me out with finding or making a new decal for it. I do not have the fancy printers some are using to make decals and such. It is the Montague oval with the jumping fish in the middle and "Montague" across the top and "Eel River" across the bottom of the oval. Unfortunately

I bought one also just to check it out. I agree with Fred - you get what you pay for. It is kind of rough and not very good quality but I am going to build it anyway just to get a feel for building on cane. If it works out ok then I will spend the $$ for a good cane blank and go from there.

Hello all, I am looking for a source of supply for a 4 or more piece pack rod. I would need it to be 6 to 7 feet long. I have looked on the sponsors and other suppliers and cannot seem to find a medium weight spinning pack rod blank. Something in the 6-10 lb. range. St. Croix has one but I think it is a little light as I am wanting something that would be a compromise for trout, bass, walleye et

OK. I need some help/guidance from some of you bamboo guys. An older fellow brought me an old bamboo flyrod to repair today. Or I should say 2/3 of an old bamboo flyrod. On the phone he said the tip had been broken but when he got here, there was no tip. The only reason I told him I would check into it is that the rod was given to him by his brother in 1943 before the brother went over to Euro

Built my first one the summer I turned 15 (1974) and I am still learning new things all the time and come up on things that baffle me still.

Like the other guys say, it depends on what you and your rod recipient want but here is what I can come up with on the fly and what I tell my customers for a flyrod with no embellishments on it. Which is what so many fly guys want. Clean the blank - 10 min Fit and glue reel seat - 1 hr Ream Cork rings - 30 min Fit and glue rings - 1 hr Shape handle to users desires - 2 hr Figuring

Hello all, I am looking for a couple of discontinued G.Loomis blanks. They were a 12’ 4-8 lb. rated Steelhead type blank. I have a fellow out here in Iowa that is looking for them to use for trolling spinner rigs for walleye. As far as I can find Loomis does not have any more. If anyone has one or two or knows where I can find them, or have ideas for something that would be co

I got one from Harbor Freight. It is listed as a "Router Speed Control". It has a 3 way switch for Normal on, Rheostat control, and off. Seems to work fine on my Flex Coat Lathe. Greg

I am planning on exhibiting at a Sportsman’s Show here in the Midwest. As this is my first one I would like some input from some of you who have may have done this before. I am going to try to make the booth an interesting one to stop at. I plan on having a rod lathe set up with a rod in the process of being built, have my rod dryer going with a couple of rods on it. Having some completed rods
