This is my home made lathe built with all hand tools basically, a drill,a hacksaw and a few taps. It was inspired by Doug Cox and the renzetti lathe. The one big difference in my lathe is the thread carriage does not have to be removed to reposition it. Its running in a track and on ball bearing wheels at the same time.

To clarify the reel i have is big, the foot wont fit on a #16 or #17 reel seat. It needs to be mounted on a #18 or bigger seat but i want a blank through model seat with a trigger which i dont think is made in that size.

I was wondering if anyone has made a RF lite from a size 18 TCS? Seems to me there may be to much space and it would look funny. Maybe even end up with odd edges that might be a nuisance and hurt after a while with all the space inbetween the seat and the blank it would end up with. The point of this is I would like a reel seat that can fit a reel that needs a size 18 seat or bigger with bl

I knew that was foam a long time ago before the rods even were out i had the chance to play with them at the rockland show here in new york a few years ago. The rep simply told me it was foam under the black stuff. Its the flocking he would not say a word about. The flocking they are doing that is the end all be all. Also i guessed at it while i was holding the rods like many here said it loo

what ever it is sure makes the custom rod building world look bad. That stuff kicks butt, to me it ends the need for a cork substitute and just puts EVA on the back burner. To bad we dont have access to it I have felt from the first time i saw and tried it this was the stuff that we need instead of grasping at all kinds of hoaky ways to obtain something less expensive than cork and just as good a

The poly glues like sumo and gorrila can fill gaps, they foam up. Also some mesh sheet rock tap can help out there too.

like Tom said hovering over it is what really messes ya up. place a small fan on low setting near by to create a breeze over the rod so the fumes arent going right up into to your face but being blow sideways and away from you also being replaced with nice fresh air by the breeze.Ventilate the room really well so you arent just blowing fumes around but replacing the bad air with some good.

fedex ground is the cheapest to ship rods with insurance for a person who cant get a biz account with a shipper. USPS is cheaper if your not insuring.. all of that is a joke in my opinion i have to pay them for losing my package what the heck is that. another thing when using USPS every optional service they offer is a joke. if they lose your package they are just goign to say sorry. Only thing

it gets thick, so what. Sure it holds bubbles, it gets thick as snot pretty fast it has no choice to hold bubbles when it gets like that. it almost starts out that way if the room is really cold. After you apply it heat it till the point that it thins and releases them your not heating as hot as you think. Even at that point even where it starts to drip, touch and see how hot it is, it feels warm

its pretty thick so it holds bubbles more readily thats pretty much common sense that would happen.

a high end st croix or loomis rod with a sub 7oz reel will float on its own. I dropped a $600 rig in the dark in the middle of the lake and just picked it up out of the water after thinking that it was lost forever when i first heard the splash.

use thin thread finish as your first coat, heat it some even to thin it further after its apply and still wet if in doubt. It will penetrate everything it will fill every gap and leave no space for air to be trapped underneath.

Looks like your in texas that rod is great for bass fishing. Like the post above I would use it for jigs, worm fishing in the weeds or carolina rigs. You will build a very nice rod from it. Their factory rods are built from the same blanks sell for around $200.
