For that type fishing, you want a soft tip glass or low number graphite rod for a number of reasons.
I am now going on 83 and am still crawling through briars to get to a spot whee there is a possible
chance to lob a worm where a native (Brookie or Brown) might be. As your client knows, you are
going to whack the tip against numerous hard things(branches, rocks, the ground, etc). If this

X-2 with Dennis - Maderia or Sulky (available in the Northeast at JO - Anns or other fabric shops) is
labeled as poleyneon(Maderia) or something close to it. You will also find Rayon on the shelves - totally
unsuitable as it does not like our finish materials. The problems with embroidery threads are the spool
size and they are lubricated to allow them to glide through automated machines.

I have never encountered Glide thread, but have used a lot of Madera and Coats and Sulky. The one thing
to keep in mind with these threads, is most are designed for Machine use and contain a lubricant. Thread
epoxy is sometimes rejected by these. I have have it happen often enough that I almost always use preserver
when using ploy sewing threads. I will oft times take a chance on trim thre

What I have always done is do a test wrap under where the handle is going to go
before starting the build. This way you know exactly what to expect on the color
you are building on, not just a "Dark Blank".

From your post what you may have is a flounder fishing rig used from rowboats here in the New York area Bay areas
in the late 1940- early 1950 time frame. Don't know about Texas then, but reasonable to think it was similar there.
The handles were turned as you stated yours were. The reel seats were chrome on brass with the seat being the
female of the ferrule and the foregrip being the male

Ron is correct. The markings should face chuck. I have the same upgrade for many years and
have had no issues. My Pac Bay lathe is at least 30 years old and they are still using the same
garbage chuck today. In order to keep a rod from working out of the chuck you had to find a way
to tie it into the chuck. Yet they still produce the same old thing even though it has never worked.

Be careful to size the seat correctly. I do not know Zeebass sizes, but Van Saal 150
will fit in FS 6 on up to FS 8 in chrome uncushioned, in Black LS 7 stainless, NS 7,
FS7 all cushioned, VS 300 FS 8 chrome,LS stainless black, NS 7 black,FS 7 black
with LS 7 the longest reach. These are the reels I have and sizes I have. I have
used these wrapped and epoxyed on cork grips and on cork

It sounds to me that the manufacturer went above and beyond to correct your problem.
In this day of beating up manufacturers publicly whenever people have problems
related to defects or poor usage, how about the name of the people that gave good service?
Compliments are good

Call Sage, they have been most accommodating on matters such as this.
Indeed, they just made a section for a 3 pc 6ft spin rod I had built and told
me the only rods they can't make sections for are very old ones do too
materials not available. At one point they used Gudebrode Goldenrod thread
and H&H guides, but not sure what they use now. Call service, explain your
dilemma and the

Bill, Utmost is as close to you as you are going to get in the lower 48. In addition they only charge
actual freight cost, no handling, and as a really big plus are located within driving distance of
Batson and Pac Bay. In addition, Carol is VERY easy to deal with and will go the extra mile for you
as well as very good pricing. If honesty, service and good pricing are high on your list, yo

The product made by Rod Dancer that is equal to PG is called Lumaseal, not Threadmaster 1.
Big difference. Threadmaster 1 is about the same viscosity as 2-part epoxy and is applied in
the same manner as you would apply 2 part, for sure you would get a huge mess using a sponge.
Lumaseal would be applied in the same manner as PG, multiple thin coats with sponge or
whatever you have had good r

inventory of thread.

Tom, you are correct in that Orvis still impregnates their rods. Took a touprof their factory in Manchester, Vt . a few months ago.
I think they are rather unique in that they make Bamboo, Glass and Graphite from raw material to finish under one roof. The
only thing outsourced is wrapping the guides. A large percentage of this is sent out to local folks, a "cottage industry" accord

The reason Gudebrod went out was not rod thread but Dental Floss. I was told by one of their VP;s at a Merrick Tackle show
that they lost a bid to an overseas outfit. They were supplying most of the US market at that time and floss was the major portion
of their business. The first year the overseas supplier had to turn to Gudebrod to fulfill the order as they could not meet production, but

Skip - To answer your question " CP" stands for Color Preserver which is used to maintain the true
color of standard Nylon thread when Epoxy is applied. Without CP nylon will go translucent and
the color of the thread will dramatically change depending on how dark the blank is. The second type of thread
used is "NCP " , which is nylon with an additive that makes it opaqu
