Well guys I have a funny feeling something fishy is going on here. I rewrapped a used Calstar 700H with red metallic base and a double guide wrap. 1st wrap is a "C" size then a size "D" over the "C". I used Flex Coat Lite thinking is has a thinner viscosity and will get down through both wraps and to the blank. I warm the wraps with a heat gun, then I pour on the fin

Well I rechecked on Amazon and found some 12v motors/ Didn't see them the last time I checked, so i did a better search this time. Anyways they are on the slow boat from China. When I get them wired up and running I will re-post any +/- results.
Thank you for the replies and ideas.

Hello all,
I came across a work space where I can wrap and mainly dry my rods dust and free of flies! But the catch is there are no electrical outlets for my drying motors. So, are there any vendors here or anyone know of a source where I can get my hands on a few 12v dryer motors about 6-9 RPM? I have seen a few listed on @#$%&, but shipped from China. I don't want to wait for the slow boat.

Ok first off,
Happy Memorial Day!!
And I have to start it with dryer motor problems. Well, I have a dryer motor I have had for years but it has very low work hours, it's mainly been in storage. Now that I need it, it is falling apart. I dug up an extra motor I had, a Pac-Bay AC 120V 36RPM. It has no plug just the two wires, a grey and a black. I am guessing the grey is the "hot"

My main reason to use these wooden spools is I use a lot of black thread and I have the old Gudebrod 4oz. spools. So I like to break them down to smaller sizes. I want to get enough of the wooden spools so I don't have to stop and refill when I am on a wrapping groove and ruin my flow mojo!

Hello,
I would like to spin a few working spools off of my bulk spools of thread. I do have a few empty plastic spools but they don't seem to hold enough thread. I have seen a 2 inch spool with an hour glass center that would hold plenty of thread. The real question is, are there any con's to this storage wise? Do they absorb moisture? If I stain or coat the spools what should I use and am I c

Thanks for the replies guys. After sleeping on it I realized the benefits, mainly the more true running the spindle will be with less run out.

Hello,
Just wondering what the benefit of having a pulley attached to the motor to drive the chuck head is for? I have my motor, coupler, then chuck head to turn the rod. No pulley on my set up. So is the pulley system smoother, more efficient?
Thanks,
Ricardo

Hello all,
I am getting back into the game of building rods for myself and a few friends. I came across this picture from wylierods recently and I have tried to contact him with no success. I did read in one of his posts that he was no longer in business. What I am interested in are these black plastic (maybe metal) caps or rings that slip over a common skateboard bearing. I am guessing there
