update - I did an undercoat of Permagloss to seal and level the cork, then applied the water slide decal and let dry. Covered edges with clear nail polish then a coat of TM epoxy. It is on the dryer now. I'll post a picture when it is done. I really like the way it came out. Roger - I have some wrap and other decals just after the fore grip so that was not an option.

I would like to put a waterslide decal on a cork fore grip. I was thinking to put a coat of Permagloss on the cork, then the decal and another top coat of Permagloss. Has anyone tried this. I did try searching for this but could not find it Thanks for any feedback you can give.

John & Donald - thank you for your replies. I am less nervous now. I typically apply epoxy in the morning so the nighttime bug issues are not a problem. I also just bought a CRB drying tent John - wherein FL are you located?

I have my rod building area in my garage and I live in FL. It gets to 95 degrees in my garage this time of year. What adjustments should I make when applying an epoxy finish? I started rod building a few months ago so it has not been too much of an issue yet, but now I have a rod ready for epoxy. I have been using ThreadMaster Lite and/or ProKote. When I mix a batch of epoxy I use an CRB

Spencer: I have put a spinning reel on a short boat rod and used it for bottom fishing - so it was not really a test of any casting ability. As I mentioned before, I really appreciate all the feedback and good ideas. I probably will end up making some type of Franken-Rod eventually.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. It was just an idea that popped into my head today. I have a couple of other project rods that I need to cpmplete first, but I may try to make a 'double duty" rod - i like the spiral wrap idea.

I can see a lot of problems with it too but the thought just came to me and figured I would ask if anyone has tried it.

Has anyone experimented with a double-sided rod? This would be with casting guides along top and spinning guides on the bottom and using 2 plate-type reel seats.
