I have a couple cheap pre made rod's and just for giggles I checked the spline on them and guess what they where not built on the spline and I realize this is on a 100 dollar manufactured rod but it if was important you would think they would build on the spline.

I have built 2 spiral wrap rods and have 2 more rod blanks ordered and they will be spiral wrapped, Im a bass fisherman and use mainly crankbait's and spinner baits. I have arthritic hands and fingers and it does help reduce fatigue on my hands and fingers. I do static test everything before i wrap the guides to be sure of placement and adjust accordingly, my first guide is usually a 10 or 12, also like using a little taller standing guide on the first and second guide as i have found the line will rub on top of the guide, just an observation. I have used the air wave guides which seem to work well.

I have a MHX blank that is 8 foot long medium heavy fast action and i broke 5 inches off the tip. Just wondering how bad this will effect the rod action and i guess it may change from a MH fastion to a Heavy xtra fast tip then..... i admit that i broke the rod as i got it pinched between boat and stump while trying to get my crank bait back....thanks...

I use alcohol pads that diabetics use, you get like 50 pads for like a buck, just wipe blank down with a couple and throw the pads away.

Since this is stretchy thread, do you set your thread tensioner the same as no stretch thread?

Here's the MHX blanks i ordered from mudhole, was a 8 foot 10-20 pound test line for crankbaits, i haven't used it on deep divers yet but have used it on medium divers and it seems ok. I built it as a spiral wrap.

Room for me is a premium also now. I don't plan on building any casting rod or spinning rods longer than 8 foot, so 8 foot bench would work then. Thanks for replies.
