Just wondering if anyone has only used three guides to transition around the blank. I am also wondering if I should use the same size guides for the spiral wrap. Guide charts show me staring with a size 12 guide. I have seen in articles with starting at zero with first guide. Has anyone started at 10 degrees.and went to 60, 120, and 180.

I build sport teams theme open and ice rods and use Winn grips because of the different colors they come in. I paint the blanks one color for ice rods. Pick a color for the Winn grip and wrap the guides in another color. Example: I live in North Dakota, so everyone has heard of NDSU Bison in college football. I paint the blank Hunter green, I use the Winn 1 1/2" butt grip and the 3 1/2"

I am not sure. He’s pictured on their web page. It would be nice to work with an American made blank.

I think Gary wants to make more money selling premade rods then sell blanks for us builders. We all know that when we build a custom rod for one person other people are going to see that rod creating business. I will keep selling other blanks.

Two months ago I ordered a North Fork blank and everything else to build a rod for a customer from Anglers Workshop. I was told it was two weeks back ordered. Two weeks go by and I call Anglers on the status. They told me, they should see it at the end of May. Here it’s the end of May and I called them. Anglers checked on the status. They don’t even know when they will see it. I cancelled my ord

I was doing a show a couple weeks ago. Had all of my custom rods on display to sell. One guy came by and said that your prices are comparabl to Tuned Up Custom Rods. Tuned Up Custom Rods are sold in sporting good stores. So that tells me they are massed produced not custom. I use cork, cork/eva, abs, and Winn grips on my rods. Customer picks out the type of guides and thread color. If they want t

Does anyone agree with me that Tuned Up Custom Rods are not custom. Every rod has a cork handle and the blanks are the same. I have been building rods for three years, and no two rods are alike. My customers pick out every part of the rod. I also paint my blanks, if my customers what custom color themes.
