Just my 2 pennies here ...... I think its all a matter of personal opinion/preference. When I am making a rod for someone who KIND OF suggests "money is no object", when you pull out a "burled cork" handle, "eyes "light up". Mudhole sells thin sheets of "Brown" EVA, but that probably won't help your issue. Unless someone else chimes in with a vendor, you might have to do the "cork" option ....

You CAN remove the decal, with a LITTLE heat, don't over do it! ALSO, Can you use a "pin" and poke holes right where the bubble is? I've had to do this in the past and it works. Just poke a hole in the label right on top of the bubble and burnish it flat. Getting the entire decal off is pretty easy, but it will leave the sticky residue and a lot of people will tell you not to

I quit shipping anything over 8 feet because i had a similar issue a year and a half ago. Fortunately there are so many people in Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach who want beach rods, I don't have to worry about shipping anymore. By the way, and this is sometimes hard to wrap your head around, its cheaper to buy your fishing rod a flight on a plane, than it is to ship it..........
