Sam, I personally enjoyed the comment, "I can't get the guide straight anyway." I can exhaust myself with that. Being a primary texas rig user, this spiral wrap was like finding the Holy Grail. It's the only method I currently use. As previously stated, this forum has wonderful techniques. Personally, I've employed the Cagey method. Kent Griffen, has posted this method he develope

For me, it has nothing to do with having a tip top that fits, it's all about the increase tip size altering the action I ordered. In my golf club experience, larger tip, less flex. Waiting to hear from y'all.

Reminds me of golf club fitting days. Most sporting goods stores sell lead swing weight tape. This would do very well fine tuning under butt grip. For more weight, golf component Companys sell inserts for the butt and can be weighted with tungsten power. You can get exact with that stuff.

Being so naive to the craft, I almost went crazier trying to weave my way through the endless options. Thank God for the customer service some company's offer. Kits did for me that I couldn't do for myself. I've since followed this blog and have increased my "parts knowledge." Thanking all whom assisted!!

Hope this post is considered appropriate. A new friend has all his father's 1950 and 60 lures and equipment. Does anyone know of a site he might list these items? Thanking all in advance.

Thanks Tom. I like the post about depth being measures from rod tip, not water level. I can't come up with his name, he was somewhat successful @ the 80's on B.A.S.S with the kneel and reel method. I never heard about your fellow's research on depth control. I have heard and studied Buck Perry's method and application. His "Spoonplugs" have been doing depth control for about 60 yea

Thank all for your advice. I mentioned reel size as a means of longer casts. Roger, I'm answering cause your statement about trolling. I troll for bass along with casting. Buck's Spoonplugs give you the ability to keep a lure at exact depth regardless of speed. The number of layers (line length) will alter depth. I'm going to try braid line again. I seem to have difficulties with backlash

I've gotten myself into another mess by over thinking the action of crankbait rods. If a more limber tip section assists in keeping a bass "pinned", does that same limber section restrict the lure from obtaining the maximum depth? Has anyone else experienced difficulties obtaining advertised lure depths? I've experimented with line diameter, rod length, and wide spool reels. Thankin

Love those stories. First time I take daughter fishing. Wade the eel grass for grass shrimp with net for pan fish. Set her up with pink Scuubee Do rod when cork disappears. Daddy help! No honey your on your own. Finally next to the boat appears a Sting Ray larger than garbage can lid. As I'm cutting the line I hear "Daddy that's my fish" It took days to calm her down over that.

Lynn, I've been really interested in that model by Point Blank. I just built a Air raw carbon 7'6" 3/8-1oz CTS for smaller crank baits. Works great, I'll bet it would do very well with drop shot.

While all the rods you have listed are of quality nature, I'm a fan of the AT Bushido Drop Shot DS69/4-10. Good luck with your journey.
