1. Fuji K
We have been building all of our freshwater bass rods on Fuji concept and CRB lazer guides. What differences would we notice when building on the Fuji K fame guides?

Just built on a 6'3" for a dock skipping rod. Very light weight comparable to much more expensive HM blank. It has plenty of backbone and slightly stiffer than most Med heavys. Plan on building on a 7'3" next month. I was truly impressed.

3. Mistake
Fooled around and ordered the wrong inserts for 2 rods. I really need to build them in the next couple of days. Has anyone ever improvised in some way to get by.
Ordered CRB 155 and should have 150.

Thanks to everyone. Norm this answers alot of my questions. I had read where someone had used one brand reduction guides and another for running guides. This helps alot.

5. Guide Choice
My son and I after building about 25 or 30 rods have realized we are still pretty ignorant when making guide choices. We have only built freshwater but are going to build a few saltwater inshore rods for a family vacation. We have only built our freshwater series with about 3 different guide styles. This is due to the fact that there are so many guide styles to choose from that it is almost mind

We have 4 rods built with minimas all the way to the top. They have been used a great deal for going on 3 years with mono and we have had no problems so far with grooving.

You know everyone has their quirks in what they like in a blank. Mine is that I prefer smaller butt diameters. I guess this stems from growing up in the 60's bass fishing when a 5'6" rod was the norm and a 6' was long. Anyway I am always on the search for the "Holy Grail" of rod blanks and found what I would love to have in the UC line. My question is I noticed that most of their

Just built on a .585 butt blank using carbon fiber CFX grips. When the fighting butt was reamed the foam core was paper thin and split when it was put on. Using a EVA butt cap that fits the core. If you were to build on a blank with a larger butt diameter would you cut the foam core tenon off and ream the butt more or opt for a different grip. Unsure if reaming the cores so much compromises the c

I have put hundreds of spools on spinning rods over the years by various methods. I have come to the conclusion that sometimes it will twist and sometimes it doesn't.

Since we had the input on Winn Grip durability a few weeks ago, what is everyone's opinion on carbon fiber grips holding up under heavy use.

I have both Shimano Sedona and Stradic 1000 reels on lightweight rods. The Sedona for a low end reel ($79) performs amazingly well.

12. Re: Refurbishing
Thanks Norm I did mean permagloss. I was thinking of applying it with a foam brush like Tom Kirkman's carbon fiber video.

13. Refurbishing
When refurbishing guides on a older rod would applying a coat of UV40 give its own a new look. If so do you apply before wrapping or after, and how many coats?....Thanks Steve

14. Re: MHX blank?
We have built 2 and absolute them. 100 series shimano reel spooled with 8# test and we catch big spotted bass regularly on them. They have a lot of backbone for a mlf.

16. Shimano SLX
Is anyone familiar with the Shimano SLX baitcasting reel. I'm looking for suggestions for a close thread color to match the blue accents on the reel.

I have a custom rod about 12 years old that I purchased and absolutely love it. It is a Shikara blank and I understand these blanks are no longer around. It is a med + fast action 1/4 - 3/8 oz. 12-17#.Anyone have an idea of a very close match would be?

So far my son and I have only built on MHX blanks. Read the good reviews here about the OEM blanks and bought a 7' white med hvy blank on clearance for using plastics around light cover. Getting Fuji concept black alconite guides wrapped black with a CRB nub reel seat and carbon fiber butt and grip. We watched the Youtube video and are going to try our hand at sealing the butt and grip. We haven'

23. Crack Cocaine
I should have used my money and bought it, at least they can treat that addiction lol. Started out with the intention of building just enough to replace our store bought stuff. Now everytime someone gets on here raving about a guide set or handle ect. Away goes another order. Anyone know a rod rehab clinic?????

Been experimenting with some colors that look pretty good (just for fun) but have heard that a complete metallic wrap is not as strong.

When building a ultrasound light rod with a small diameter butt of say .240 what do you do if you do if you have no foregrip. The rubber or vinyl winding checks I have found are so small diameter size they won't cover a 16mm barrel reel seat. Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks for the tips. My concern was roughing up the carbon fibers taking it down.

Appreciate any tips on sanding carbon fiber grips. I'm having trouble on the rear of the grips to get the nub of the core down enough so the rubber winding check fits flush against the grip. Been using CFX grips and don't want to ruin one at $12 a pop. Been looking at the kits from Mud Hole for making your own. Just looking at the kit process I would think you might have a even greater problem wi
