Thanks again guys. I have tried the talc method and the result was extremely cloudy, gold (ish) almost yellow, not clear at all but amazigly it still had a shine. Tried a very tiny dash of talc and the results were unimpressive, almost indistiquishable from the basic finish. So Ive decided to go with regular 2 part epoxy then dull it down with fine abrasive wet&dry 800 grit rubbing pap

I am building a rod and I want it to have zero glare on the epoxy. Does anyone know of a method that will kill the shine in Regular or High build before application? I will only be applying epoxy to the wraps. Or is my only solution to scrub the finished surface with 600grade wet&dry abrasive paper? As with Rik I am also wrapping a rod for the first time in more than ten years and have also noticed the pronounced bump of the thread after trimming it off. Now I will try burnishing the bumps a little more as advised. Thanks also for the link to the video, its certainly a new step forward on the 'how to' of wrap finishing. I have had one of these rods through my hands in the late '90's. The blank and rod was made by ITALCANA of Italy and was approx 180-200lb class, lined with 600lb braid it would easily hold my 140lb body weight off the deck, bending 25-30% as it did so.
