Michael Danik, I like #1, but I would think just including a "water based" decal (not a sticker), instead of putting it on the blank might be better. Then we can place it ANYWHERE we see fit.
+1 for Phil Ewanicki
+1 on standardization - Which if you ask me, other than some off brands, it seems like most brands are all part of the "Batson Industries" family, and I am assu

Thanks everyone!
I am not sure they are Minima`s (They look like single foot versions, maybe DynaFlo?), but I bought a Steelhead Rod, 9' Ultralight from Gander about 10 years ago and used it for Salmon, steelhead, and pike when I was in New York. I must have caught 40+ salmon, and 10+ steelies, and 20 or so pike. I used 8lb test braid, THE WHOLE TIME, and never got any grooves. As well, i nev

24. Guide Longevity
I cant seem to find any real good testing that has been done on the different guides and manufacturers out there, so I am curious about all of your use with the common guides on the market, how well they maintained their appearance, how well they maintain their inserts under rough use, and overall which guides are best for longevity?
So far, I have used are Fuji and CRB. I like the Fuji guide

I wish I was so goo I was that quick! I re-did 5 guides and a tip-top on my brothers Ugly stick, and it took me 4 hours. Course, it was double foot guides, two trim bands on each guide foot , all metallic thread, and that was a pain. Fun and came out great! Ready for a 10 year stint i hope!

I am down with the tape idea, and may try. Would be a "simple, quick" repair method for times when you gotta get out fishing but you need a temp fix and dont have the time to wait for epoxy to cure.
But I agree with both Michael and Tom, that the time used to do multiple wraps and tape, and the weight overall will not equal an overall benefit. But maybe a nice tight wrap, and then a

Tape can come off and then your threads will unwrap.
I can agree, but maybe just a single coat of lite build (only enough to saturate the threads and not require a rod dryer) or a single coat of PermaGloss. Seems just as easy, less chance of coming undone in the middle of a good fish fight, and will last a few seasons. Then, will be super easy to remove and redo.
Just my opinion, but I am

29. Re: Old Epoxy
I am no expert, but I have been using epoxies for over 20 years, and I always thought the hardner was made with several solvents. In fact, after looking at 7 or so MSDS sheets just to check, and they all had at least one solvent, most of them having benzenemethanol, or benzyl alcohol. I am not sure how susceptible to evaporation those are, but I would assume there is also solvents in our hardener

30. Re: Old Epoxy
It is Flex Coat, and appears to be for threads, at least the bottle says so. Makes me wonder, how old, and if some of the thinners are able to evaporate off over time.
