Thanks for the great responses, I have enough to go on now. Will research a little more but think i'm ready. Even thought I grew up in MO and spent most of my life there, for some reason, trout fishing was something I haven't done. Thanks again!

Hello, Looking for a fly rod blank recommendation. A short #4 for stream trout in the MO/AR Ozark region. Would like to stay under $150 for this one. Bennett springs, White river, Meramac, etc.... These are a little smaller streams and rivers. I am building a few fly rods soon on some inexpensive blanks just to go through the motions of a fly rod build. I Haven't built a fly rod yet. A

Haven’t tried it myself, but there is a YouTube video on a wood carvers channel. They use wax paper or freezer paper with a ink jet. Then can rub the ink into your surface. Do not use laser jet. Could melt the wax and cause damage to the printer. The Matt glue looks like a good option also. Test for yourself, but use caution. I haven’t done this so can’t gaurentee no issues to the printer

I know this isn’t a rod building question, but since I frequently use this site, I want to support its vendors if possible. Looking for an intermediate fly tying start up kit for a Xmas gift. Can someone recommend a vendor to look at that may offer one? I will build them a simple fly rod for them in the spring as well. They just started learning fly fishing this summer and really likes it so

I did 6 old junk practice blanks last weekend with Citri-Strip and worked good. Did have some trouble spots, but most of them had no issues. I coated the rods and let sit for about 1-2 hours to get the finish off then recoated again and left over night. Was able to remove paint and finish with a green scotch cleaning pad. It won’t remove epoxy, so have to get that off first. A razor, light s

How is tha spar looking and had any issues with it? Just finishied stripping 4 rods and ready for a coat of finish. My first time was going to use UB40, a 2k clear coat, and possibly the Hellmann spar. Just curious. I’m out of town and was going to get the supplies as soon as I get back. Two I’m painting, other two I’m finishing raw/natural.

Thanks, tried to call earlier and sent an email. Hopefully it's up before Monday. Trying to get some NFC on sale. Ordering through my little iPad sort of @#$%& and my laptop is work issued and requires VPN to my work. Not sure why, but my work Websense filters has NFC blocked as a security threat. I can use another PC at a friends house later.

Is anyone having issues getting to the GetBit's website? I haven't been able to connect since after 2pm (edt) Friday. I tried from four different networks and keeps saying site unavailable. Did a full reboot of home network and devices. Also attempted connection from a VPN session through my work. Unfortunately I dont have a email address other then the CustomerService one they use to se

If your new and trying something you haven't used, could call one of the vendors you plan to purchase from. I recently got some new grips I wanted to try and a good reel seat only to find out they don't fit together and had to return. No rod building suppliers near me so I'm stuck calling people or relying on forums. I'm a novice as well.

Can I get a recommendation for a type of blank, size, and action for Snakeheads in S Fla? This will be for spinning and fishing from canal shorelines, no boat or kayak. Under $100 if possible. Casual recreational fishing for now. Tried the search, but warm and cold water snakeheads seems to be mixed together and sometimes not sure what type of fish the post is referring to. This will be fo

Thanks to everyone here for such a great history of tips. Finished my first wrap finish. So far so good. After 2hrs, no footballs, peaks or valleys. Was worried I wasn't putting enough on so I added more until I got a slight sag on the bottom and then removed. Hope by tomorrow morning it dries correctly and not sticky or anything. The finish brings out my beginner wrappings. Need to wo
