Thank you all for all the knowledge and advice, I think I will go with a power wrapper and test the waters for say, I still have my hand wrappers so I'm not loosing any options as I see it after everything you all have said. If it helps then I have gained that much more.. I really do enjoy building and probably put more on my self as far as the outcome this short into the learning but then no on

I appreciate all the advise from all of you, I have wrote down everything Roger said and have started the quest in deciding on a power unit, I already have 2 dryers, each a different rpm. so that aspect I should be covered. the cork turning I do not know that I will use one for that as I do all my work inside a office that now is the "fishing room" as my son calls it, now to decide the

Thank you all for the advise, still a little on the fence, I can see where doing trim work and such would still require by hand in a lot of ways, I've watched a lot of videos on wrapping and it seems it leaves you free to sorta guide your thread as wrapping, as I find my self doing now only one hand is turning the rod, I just started my 5th rod and have 4 more blanks ordered, I guess the bug has

As a added note, to my questions, and reason. by trade I am a equipment mechanic for 31 years now, my fingers do not feel the thread much, when I tie a fly on with say a 7 or even a 5x tippet I do so more by sight, and yes the glasses are needed then, so I was wondering if having a power wrapper would help as I can not feel A thread anyways and c helps but I have a problem keeping it tight as it

Hello Y'all , I have a question or more so asking about input about the advantages of a power wrapper over a hand wrapper,, noted I understand the speed and possible production, do they help in smaller wraps as far as say 2 or 1 guide size on a fly rod? I understand the cost between the two depending on quality/high end to lower cost brands. I am only on my 5th build and do not plan on selling an

Thank you everyone for all the advise, knowing me and how much passion I have for fly fishing or any as far as that goes I will be building rods for all my[ adult now] kids and more than likely just to build. I decided on a custom built hand wrapper made out of wood with 3 stands, a 2 spool tensioner and a dryer with 3 stands, I will see how it goes, build some rods and up grade if needed. Thanks

Anything you would have added with the initial investment to start? Mixer, more stands etc. I can see adding rails like Mr. Fude said would give more space for adjustments while working.
