16-12 strippers,-6-6-6-5-5-5-4-4 single foot wire,-large loop tip. I like going oversized, just psychological I guess. Never had a bad casting rod even though most of my builds are on cheap no name blanks. Am currently about to start the same blank in a 5wt and that's what I'm going with. Built a 5wt med-fast no name with these sizes and can easily cast 60' no problem without dbl hauling.

You could try the Arctos Blanks. I don't know if they meet your exact criteria but they are nice, and if you happen to break it your not stuck with an unreplaceable rod blank.

Well, no offense but all I see on the American tackle web site is the Black Matrix in 2, 3 and 4pc for fly blanks. I will assume the Bushido line of fly blanks is discontinued, are they coming out with a new fly blank design to replace it? Something different from the Black Matrix's Med-Fast action, maybe a fast action?
Thanks
Scott.

I have never seen that size in the Quickline, but I do know they are discontinuing the Quickline blank line, so if you can find one then grab it because once its gone their gone.

I was specifically looking for one of his UMH 12 fly blanks.

Now the pop-up is back. Oh well, I guess just an anomaly.

You could try the Pac Bay Arctos. I built a 10' 7wt for great lakes steelhead and it's plenty fast. Unfortunately I haven't built a 9' rod with that blank for comparison (yet) but probably will eventually. H&H usually has them on sale for 25% off once a month.

Does anybody know if Angler's Roost is re-open? I logged onto their website and the pop-up menu indicating orders not being taken at this time, no longer pops up.

Has anyone heard whether or not Pac Bay is discontinuing the Quickline series of Fly Blanks? Or for that matter, the series in general?. I was on a Fly rod building facebook page the other day and someone commented that Pac Bay was discontinuing the Quickline blanks. That, and my go-to blank supplier (H&H) does not and can not get the 8wt that I ordered back in February, and now no longer has

Does anybody know the difference between U-40 permagloss and regular Urethane/ Polyurethane?

Anglers Roost used to sell them so they are made. I would imagine someone else must have them too.

Just an FYI. I went with the Quickline from H&H (25% off sale) and am going with black chrome single foot guides, pretty much like I usually do. Black guides, wraps and reel seat. Haven't decided on grip yet, burl cork or black carbon fiber. May experiment with a black dye on cork.

I want to build a super fast 8wt for bonefish, and was looking at the Arctos and Quickline blanks. Anybody know how they compare?
Thanks

Newbie here again. I have built maybe 10 or 15 fly rods and have been thinking of getting a power wrapper. How many of you guys use one? How long does it take to get the hang of?
Was looking at the Alps Forecast model to be specific.
Thanks again.

Wow, Thanks for all the good ideas.
One thing I forgot to mention was that the blank in question was a matt finish blank.
I will experiment on the butt end of my next build to see what works best.
Thanks again!!

Hello all. I just started using a Brother P-touch to make decals and have a question about the edges showing. Is there anything that can be done about it? I thought I read in another post about using Sally Hansen hard as nails, but was unable to find anything in a search. the edges don't seem to be lifting just prominently displaying themselves. Is there a procedure to eliminate this? I applied t

24. Re: Fly Rods
If your only experimenting, I would suggest you do it on an inexpensive blank. I have been honing my skills with a little fly shop in Florida that sells just fly rod building parts. I'm not sure if its ok to solicit their name since they aren't a sponsor but I will anyways and let the moderators scold me. I bet if someone were to contact them they would probably become a sponsor).
The company is

Hello all, I am relatively new to rod building and have limited knowledge. My question is what brand guides do you use? I have so far only used Pac Bay guides, they claim the foot is pre ground, however I find I have to grind the crap out of them to get them the way I like.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.

I've used the Sharpie extra fine oil and water based paint markers with great success. Lots of different colors to choose from, but I almost always use white in the water base, or gold and silver in the oil.

28. Arctos blanks
Any fly builds with the new Arctos blanks yet? Was thinking of building a 10' 7wt just because, and they seem to be reasonably priced. Will probably use for Steelhead up here on the Great Lakes.
