I know that is probably the best solution and it's in my head to offer him another high end rod(The rod was near 300$ when he bought it roughly 25 year ago). But I dont have time to build a new rod before the season and I also want to practice myself on other project before starting this gift. I still never wrap and epoxy a thread. What do you mean by "epoxy daub"? Do you mean adding silica to epoxy to make a paste similar to peanut butter?
the depth represent roughly 1/5 to /14 of the blank diameter.
My father cant remember when it appear. I realize the nick this winter when inspecting the rod for her restoration. So it maybe there from a couples of year. This rod succeed to fish a 5lbs trout last year and

The original seat seem to be aluminum only. I'll try to ream it to see if I can see some brass under the chrome.
Thanks for confirming that carbon or graphite wouldnt be a viable option.
Dont mind ordering another seat, but just wondering if all the "offshore" or "heavy duty" model are ribbed?
As reaming the brand new seat, i dont really know of to procede

Hi,
I've got a vintage Major Rod brand build in the 70's that I want to replace the real seat.
The particularity of those rod is that the real seat slide directly over a ferrule on the rod.
I'd ordered a Pac Bay seat model CL20MS but the inner tube is ribbed and it dont fit on the ferrule.
I dont have any supplier around to go onsite and look for something that will fit. I dont want

Hi there,
I'm putting new guide on a old fiberglass rod to try it as a downrigger rod. The rod seem to be a light power(maybe too light...we'll see soon). I like to play with fish and dont like to "winch" them onboard. I'll target spring salmon on lake Ontario and lake trout on other lake later this summer.
I bought some minima guide and I wondering if I need to underwrap the guid

Hi,
this is my first post and hopefully not the last one :) , but so many post already help me to make the jump in the world of rod building. Thanks to poster and responder.
So my father have an old Daiwa rod bought in late 80's or begin of 90's that is loving. I would love to rebuild it completly soon or later. But for now, I must repair a small nick near the first guide.
