Being money is of no object - I've always felt it didn't get any better than the K2s in terms of feel / bott contact presentations. After spending some time with a few Point Blanks, I find them just as satisfying for less money. You really get a lot of bang for the buck with these imo. I'd take a look at one of their ML models in your preferred length.

Regarding weight differences. Couldn't you just weigh the amount of extra thread, trim rings, winding checks, etc on a digital scale? Would give you a rough estimate anyway. Also depends on your definition of excessive wrapping. 2X, 3X, 4X, or whatever. The additional finish is kinda the X fact in the equation.

This. I'd like to see some higher end 2 piece freshwater blanks. I understand the market isn't there, but just give me 1 or 2 fairy universal model options. I'm down with having a few high end trunk sticks. Fish in style b

The Point Blank 731mlf is pure magic, as are most of the PB rod blanks.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the Rainshadow Immortal popping blanks for all my cranking needs. If you really want to knock his socks off, take a look at the Point Blank 731mlf.

I don't recommend the PTS if you have smaller hands. Kinda wide and bulky. Much prefer the ECS. I have the Tex Touch on a few builds, one with no insert. Plenty of blank access on that one. I find it an improvement over the ACS, however after extensive use, my hand begins to cramp a bit. I wouldn't use it on a moving bait build, but that's just me.

You need a minimum of 500 grams of power to effectively fish half ounce jigs with trailer imo. Especially around cover. NFC has a chart that lists ERN numbers. Point Blank also lists both ERN and RDA numbers. Another nice choice would be something from the Phenix UMBX line.

Point Blank, NFC, and MHX all have blanks in that wheel house. How much power is he after? What weights will he be tossing? Need more information.

I'd jump to the 709 for more power. I believe the 706 is just a slightly faster version of the 705. Similar to the difference between the SJ705 and 706. This is just what I've been told. If you're looking for similar power to the 844Glx you need the 709.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was getting at. I'm just unsure as to how much. Less than 10%? If I fished this blank build exactly the same, but extended one 3 inches, would I likely even notice a difference?

Hey folks. I'm looking at extending an NFC MB664 three inches. Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much this will speed up the blank? How about power? Will it increase the power, and about how much? Here's the specs.
ERN 19.88
AA 67.8
These specs are about perfect for what I'm after, so I hope it won't affect the blank too much.

Sounds about right. The 664mb hm has an ERN of 1

That blank lacks the hook setting power needed. I've built two rods dedicated to tossing paddle tails. 4" with 3/16 oz heads - Point Blank 701mf. 5" with 3/8 oz heads - NFC SJ705 IM.

Hey folks. I'm looking for measurements on any of the following models, HM Or IM. MB702, MB703, MB704, SJ704. I believe I recall this information being ready available, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Anything you have would be most appreciated.

Maybe the OP is referring to something they read regarding blank twist? A certain company states that by using a particular wrap design in the construction of their blanks, it transfers energy more efficiently, in turn improving casting accuracy. I also watched a video from a particular blank company that mentions less energy and momentum is required on the back swing to load the rod, improving a

Put it this way. The P843 high mod makes a killer finesse rod. The SJ842 makes a killer "power finesse" rod.

SJ842 all day. The P843 has a thinner, softer tip section. I use my P843 for flick shake finesse worms and 3/16 oz jerkbaits. The SJ842 I can still use for the same things, but I can bump up to a weightless 5" Senko and larger jerkbaits. I'd say the top end for the P843 is right around 7/16 oz, where as with the SJ842 I feel comfortable with 9/16 oz. Makes a nice light square bill and rattle

What's the low end? Will it handle a 1/8 oz wacky jig and finesse worm? At the other end of the spectrum, will it give me solid hook sets with a 4.5" paddle tail and exposed 4/0 hook? That's exactly what I'm after. A versatile, multi talented travel rod.

I haven't used that particular blank, but I'd imagine it has the least power of the three. Probably somewhat whippy. While lure ratings can be arbitrary, I'd kee

Can anyone give me a general idea as to the power of this blank? Anybody measure one up? Data would be awesome. I'm actually looking at the 2 piece model, but anything will help. Believe it or not, I've never even fished a Croix!

I have a SJ842 and a high modulus P843, both built as casting rods. These are actually my 2 favorite Mhx blanks. How light do you want to go with the jig heads? I think the P842 is going to be too light in the power department. Both my blanks load and cast well with 1/8 oz and small plastic. I'd give a slight edge in power to the SJ842. The popping blanks have a more progressive taper and a fast
