I assume when they write that the loop size is 5.5mm, that is the actual inside diameter of the guide?

How should I think when choosing tip tops for fly rods? On one fly rod I will have size 1/0 (OD 5.7 ID 4.3) single leg guides and on the other rod size 1 (OD 6.5 ID 5.0) single leg guides.
There’s these 3 tip tops I can choose from in the same series and color:
- Seymo DLC standard tip top" (5.5mm ring size)
- Seymo OST DLC tip tops (7mm ring size)
- Seymo 731 XL hayfork DLC tip tops

So 9 single leg guides + 2 Torzite "strippers" for a 9.6 foot rod and 8 + 2 for a 9 foot rod?

I''m just some glueing away from being ready to order and attach guides on 3 fly rods I'm building. I'm building a #4 9 foot, a #5 9.6 foot and a #6 9.6 foot.
I think I will be using size Seymo single leg 1/0 (OD 5.7 ID 4.3) running guides on the #4 rod and size 1 (OD 6.5 ID 5.0) running guides on the #5 and #6.
For stripper I will be using Torzite LKWTG. Maybe a size 8 for the #4 and a s

I will use a Torzite for stripper, I'm gonna try a size 8 and then directly to size 1/0 och 1 running guides. For the #4 rod I'm thinking single leg snakes. For the #6 I don't know. Maybe a Size 8 to a size 6 Torzite, then single leg snakes or traditional snake guides. If I don't go directly from a torzite stripper to the same size running guides I think it better to use a smaller Torzite transit

Thank you! What is it with the PacBay Minima's that you think makes them better that single leg snakes?

How far away do you put the stripper from the reel? On casting rods I put itthe first guide further away from the reel than on rods you buy and I think it was much better overall for the function of the rod.

I will think about 1 or 2 strippers. But having all running guides the same size sounds right, that's what I do on casting rods. But thinking if I should maybe use single foot guides near the tip and then snakes closer to the stripper guide. If I want the snakes and the single foot version of the snake to be the same size, should I buy all of them in size 1 for a #4 rod? Is size 1 the smallest si

After some 10 years without fly fishing at all, I will now go back to this type of fishing. I have built casting rods and ice fishing rods that I really love, I now want to put this love into a couple of fly rods. On my casting rods I uses Torzite guides that I really love, carbon handles is a given too. I know more or less nothing about guides for fly rods. I think I want 2 Torzite stripper guid

What would you say is the best ice rod guides? I'm building a power noodle rod with 0.8mm tip. I will put an inline reel on it so a little taller spinning guide first I'm thinking and then regular guides. The problem I Have is to find suitable tip tops for this small diameter blanks that still have bigger rings..

Hi!
I'm thinging of building an ice rod for lakers/bog trout and walleye/pike etc. The Batson .385X.105X72 blank seems to be the most popular blank for this application? Does ice rods on this blank suit well for a JawJacker and if they do, how long rods can I use with this blank for the jawJacker? 36" or will even 40-45" rods work?

I have to adjust an already glued tip top, I used flex coat tip top adhesive. What the best way? The tip top need to be adjusted a little to the side, it's a little bit of right now.. Heat with soldering iron? Use a burner?

Is there any reason to use a size 5 belly and then size 4 runningguides or should I use 4 all the way after the reverse stripper guide?

I'm thinking about trying the new Pacbay Minima titanium TiBlack T and F guides. Are these top notch or are there even better alternatives I should have a look at?

What would you consider are the best micro titan casting guides for bass rods right now? I’m gonna build some around 7 feet bassrods with different actions. I will be using new Daiwa Zillion casting reels, with thin 8-strand braid and FC leaders. Casting distans and sensitivity are importand of course, but I also hate noise from the braid going through the guides, I know much of that are caused b

Great instructions, thank you! I'm thinking of installing a Textouch Graphite or MVT Reel Seat, they have 3 cut outs and carbon woven insert, in what order should I best mount the insert, to the reel seat or first to the blank?. Should i Use arbors all the way where it's not a blank exposure or is it better to splice the arbor to smaller pieces and have spaces between them?

Is there a step by step instruction or video for mounting reel seats with cut outs and how to best do with arbours to those reel seats?

Thank you! Where do you buy your ALPS guides? They don't seem to easy to come over?

Looking for guides to a bass rod - jigging, texas and carolina rig mostly. Lure wights up to 1-1 1/4 oz. Rod length 7". The ALPS guides seems like a good choice. is there any other I should take a look at, titanium? What do you think of this:
MXN or LXN 6
FN 5
FN 4
FN 3
S6-HCDLZT 4 (DL top)

Or to put it in other words, if I want to replace the carbon insert in the back of the reel seat with my own carbon tube, whats the inside diameter of that part of the reel seat?
Forum: rodboard 8 years ago

If I'm about to put a carbon tube on my rod blank and then the ALPS MVT reel seat or a textouch mounted to that tube, what size on the tube should I get and what size for the reel seat for the tube to fit both in the back of the reel seat (where the 2 smaller cutout are) and in the middle where the big cutout are for blank exposure?

Anyone tried to remove the nut from the hood and use the hood with for example a threaded graphite part from a fuji KDPS16 or something. I like the hood but not the nut so much, I really like tubes as "foregrip" though and would like to combine those somehow..
Forum: rodboard 8 years ago

I'm thinking about purchasing an ALPS MVT reel seat, however I don't really like the hood/nut on that reel seat. I would like a Hood/nut with a graphite foregrip where I can put a carbon tube and a windcheck on it. Preferible I would like to still use the plastic part of the ALPS MVT nut/hood that fits over the reelfoot, but add that to a graphite part, like the fuji KDPS-16 but without that lock
