I've got too much Struble stuff in my garage. For a few days, all new, old-stock Struble grips we received in the acquisition are on sale at below cost. These are genuine flor-grade grips Struble has stocked since the late 2000s. Good time to stock up! Link: Thanks... Steve Struble Mfg.

I can see them...Wish I could post a picture, but I'll describe mine in relation to yours: As I'm at eye-level with the wrapper looking straight on at the dryer motor from the side, the dryer motor pulley's outer flange is perfectly aligned with the large pulley's groove's center. In other words, it's clear I have an alignment problem. With yours, does the bearing of the large pulley fre

When I do that on the Photos page, it comes back as Invalid. Wow, my problems never cease :) I'll keep trying.

I can't figure out to post a picture in the gallery. If anyone can point the way, I'd be most grateful. Thanks.

I'll try and post a picture to the gallery; I'm pretty sure I received a defective wrapper in that the angled support was bent from the moment I unboxed it. The wobble can be significant, depending on my alignment of the supports and how close to level I can some- This is difficult at times with smaller fly rods since they either have to rest on the bottom two wheels because the top one doesn'

Thanks much… I've changed finish batches twice since throwing out the old flex coat. I'd be very surprised if that was the issue at this point. Find smaller amounts seems like a good idea. Thanks...

Haven't considered to pull through… I've been using Flytying wire. And, I've only recently started using it. I don't know what contamination could be on the wire (and, I've used different colors of wire on different Rods), but it's as likely a candidate as anything. I'll see about removing the plate and try straightening it in a vise. Before that, tonight I'll give the paper shield a tr

I posted about this issue I'm having a few weeks ago and got some very good advice...Just as a review: The last several rods I've done have had a handful of "divots" in the finish. Essentially, these are tiny spots of what seems like crystalized, uncured epoxy; the spots are "cloudy" and when I press on them, they get cloudier and the "cloud" seems to spread.

Roger... Again, you point out some things I am not currently doing that will be a big help in the future, like cleaning syringes and storing upright. Very helpful. Thanks again, Steve

Thanks for the help, everyone. I don't use CP, so that's not the issue, but I did have crystals, and the syringes were old and I noticed crystallization in them. This is why I decided to trade everything out; the finish parts were down to the bottom of the bottles, so it was time anyway. My confusion was the one spot I had after I applied a coat using all new finish and syringes; however, t

I've built Rods for years, but I've had an epoxy issue the last several rods I've never seen before nor can I figure out why it's happening. The best way to describe it is "soft spots." After the epoxy cures, I've come back and noticed tiny dimples in the finish. When I press on them, they become cloudy, almost as if there is un-cured epoxy just below the surface. When I cut them out

Could use some help... Spinning up a couple Sage X blanks and Sage actually has the spacing chart up on their website; however, it lists distances from the tip in measurements I'm used to (4-3/4...17-1/2...etc) but it also lists distances I can't for the life of me decipher, like "10-20/29" & "33-47/50" & "25-14/25." I wrote to Sage last week for an exp

I think I might know the supplier of whom you speak...I use them as well and have ordered several X blanks from them. Don't take this as a guarantee, but I ordered a 590-4 a few weeks ago and it said allow 3 weeks and I got it in a few days. Just ordered another plus a 486-4 and they arrived in about a week. I guess times could vary, but I've never waited 3 weeks for anything, even if it sa

Greetings... This isn't exactly about rod building, but I was hoping someone could help me out with something I just noticed. My dad recently had a stroke and his wife asked me to find homes for his equipment. One of them is a Sage Graphite II RP 9'6 5 wt. It's a factory rod he bought at Pacific Iron Works in Ventura and never fished (still has price tag on seat- $270.00). Additionally, all g

Greetings... Been registered here for a few months and have really enjoyed the education. This is my first post and it regards a blank I purchased ridiculously cheap- cheap enough that I know almost nothing about it, except that it's 9 ft. From searching through the archives here, I believe it is an old 3M blank. It has a very deep, almost translucent reddish brown color and the tip-into bu
