Nearly everything I tried to seal it with caused issues. Perma gloss being one of the most aggressive. Looked like paint stripper.

I feel that the spiral wrap makes pulling in bucktails (10) much easier. There is less twist as you reel in the hard pulling bait. I didn't notice a single disadvantage.

14. Re: Epoxy
I have built a drop shot rod with the reel attached with thread and rod finish. It makes for a very sensitive rod/reel set up. I considered all the reasons that I may want to take the reel off and determined the none of them were that big of a deal, I figured it was worth the experiment. I have several other rods I can use so it isn't like I would be unable to fish if the reel broke. The fact

I prefer this blank. hydrafishing.com/product/frog/
The FS905 may be a little too heavy to make long cast with a frog.
If you have any question on the Hydra blank give the guys a call they will explain the blank and make a recommendation.

There are a lot of good options from several manufactures. Phenix makes a really good blank for this application.
I have built on the Phenix,MHX, St. Croix, Bushido, and Rainshadow. They have all performed well.

For me it doesn't do much for helping with spacing guides. I static test for final guide placement. What it has helped me with is comparing blanks. It does require a lot of documentation from each blank for the data to be valuable long term. I haven't got it mastered just yet. What I have struggled with is determining the amount of weight to use to deflect the blank. It is just another tool i

Get Bit has some old castaway blanks that may work for you. They are 6'2" but the price is right. You could cut them down if you really want it shorter. SB623 M/B and SB623 G/B

If you want metallic winding checks then it will be difficult unless you layout each blank but I would still buy a 1 size up and 1 size down from what you think you need. As for the reel seat it will depend on what kind of seat you plan on using. If you are thinking about using something similar to a fitted seat like Fuji ACS or ECSM then measure the OD approximately where you plan to mount th

It is stainless wire used for making spinner baits. 0.051" is the size I used just because I had it on hand. I wouldn't see an issue with something smaller. I twisted a loop one end and made a "z" bend on the other end. Drilled a hole just big enough for the wire to fit in. Make the leg of the "z" bend about 1.5" and drill the hole through the top and the lower

I have several with a lot of time on them. I can't confirm they do anything better than equally quality reels but I can say I haven't seen anything negative about it. Yes they have more parts and may be a tick heavier but to date none of the parts have failed.

I always glue it all on the rod at the same time. As stated above if you are using a reel seat with a foam or carbon shim then glue it in first and then ream as required. If you plan to use tape shims then it is just an added step once the grips are on. Being this is your first time I would recommend getting yourself very organized. Assemble everything dry and write a check list for each item
