I purchased the above blank from Mudhole and it was delivered with the top (tip) 2.25in broken off in the plastic packaging sleeve. Cudos to Mudhole , as they replaced it based on the photo I sent in. So I am now left with the broken tip blank at 7'6 and 3/4 to build. Any thoughts on how or if the performance may change? Thanks, Rick Elrod

I love them myself. Like the above folks said, give them a try and form an opinion. Anglers Resource has a black "custom" Winns Grip that eliminates all of the branding that I like a lot. With regards to Lynns' view, a split grip with an exposed type seat eliminates that argument imo. Good Luck, Rick Elrod

I think blank selection is relevant to the "structure" you will be fishing. I fish 1/2 OZ chatterbaits in the grasses of the potomac. I almost always throw a 6'9 to 7'0 mh with braid. Anything lighter just does not have the backbone to rip the bait through the grass. Open water you could certainly get away with less. Rick

I will attest to all stated above. I have built on the Point Blank PB701 mlf using the klh20 as a stripper and also on a Point Blank PB701 lxf using the klh16 as a stripper and both work amazingly well. I use the Stradic ci4 in 3000 on the mlf using up to 20lb braid as a main line and I use the Stradic ci4 2500 on the lxf with either a braid main line or Floro up to 8lb test. Love fishing with

Answered my own question. Paint stripper on the heavy stuff scraped with a Popsicle stick. Followed up with 180 grit then 320 since I had some here. Will probably run some 5-600 over it and call it done. Looks great bare. Took about 1.5 hrs I'm guessing

I have an old Abu Veritas blank that I'm stripping. What is the best way to remove their "yellowed" finish and what type of paint or product can I repaint it with before rebuilding? Thanks, Rick Elrod

Thanks for all of the suggestions. For me, the order of importance is function, weight, aesthetics, then value. I mainly build for myself. This said, i think replacing the bulky 20 stripper with the kw10 or rv6 would save weight and look nicer. But will it function as well? I will order the parts and see for myself. Thanks again to all! As the title states I am building the NFC Flip above using a Spiral wrap. A lot of my research suggests 9 or more guides including tip. NFC's site offers guide placement recommendations for a spiral wrap using only 8 guides including tip for this specific blank. I followed NFC's guidelines and performed a static test and all looks good. Zero blank contact. Because I will be using heavy lines I op

I recently built on a Point Blank PB701mf. I fell in love with it first time out fishing a Fluke for Bass. Great tip and feel! Second time out, I was fishing a Tourney on the Potomac River, got to my first spot and 3.75 inches was broken off the tip. I run an Action Craft Fastbasser which it a center console flats style boat with vertical rod holders along sides of console. I am assuming tip was

Considering purchasing an NFC blank. Is it standard that there is a 30$ shipping charge plus a $10 excise tax? The blank just went from $133 to $173 Thanks, Rick

Would the 769 IM mentioned above be good for both pitching jigs into cover (trees) and flipping into open river grass mats? I have been building my rods using the KR Concept with 4.5 runners and tip. Is this a good guide train for these applications? Thanks, Rick

I had issues with 2 Immortal blanks and Batson was very willing to make things right. They stood behind their product.

I am in the process of wrapping a spinning rod with the exact set up Norm describes above. I am pretty sure I read Norms description of a Point Blank build and am using his idea. Thanks Norm!

Thanks for all of the suggestions. David, I have built on the MHX High Modulus HM-SB812-MHX blank. I like it but wish I had used a different grip. It was my first build and I used a carbon fiber split grip as it looked "cool" I have since realized I am partial to the Winn Grips. So, all of that said I'd like to try a new to me Blank Manufacturer. Not because I am unhappy with the MHX bu

I like the feel of this rod but of course want to build it myself. Any blank suggestions that fall in line with this description? Designed for jerk baits like the Megabass X-80 TRICK DARTER, VISION ONETEN, and MAGNUM, the Megabass OROCHI XX 68XX JERKBAIT SPECIAL features a parabolic bend and a 6’8” length that is perfect for quick, precise rod action. Ideally suited for lure weights of ¼ to ¾oz.

I also built on the Immortal IMMC73ML for this app (if memory serves also on Davids Recommendation) and am quite happy with it. I paired it with a Shimano Aldebaran 50HG and love throwing it. Its a good bang for the $ blank. Rick
