2. 80#
For you guys that build trolling rods. What would be the blank of choice for an 80# class rod for Marlin to be used in the chair?

Well if you are looking for something for larger hands just simply get a larger reel seat.....

Yes, blues and blacks. What are the differences between the IGFA blanks and all the other options? (Besides being e-glass).

13. Re: Marlin rods
I intend to ask these questions. He says that he wants an 80lb class and 130lb class.all rollers, with an aluminum butt. I am assuming the shorter butts are for stand up and longer are for the fighting chair?

14. Marlin rods
Where can I find out more about these rods? I have someone that wants me to build him a Marlin rod, I feel confidant that I can do this. I just want to be able to read as much info as I can.

I use a Heavy with a fast tip for Carolina rigs, since throwing that is more like a lob than a cast.

17. Cork and eva
I just finished building and turning my first cork grip, and it tuned out nice. Now my question is, what glue to use if you want to introduce some Eva into your cork grips? I used title bond 2 on the cork.

21. Turning grips
I am looking into to trying to make my own grips. My question is what grade of cork do you guys use? Price ranges from 50 cents or so to upwards of 2 dollars per cork ring. Should I just go with something in the middle? Maybe get the cheap ones for the first few?

If you put the foot of the reel under the hood first then slip into the back of the reel seat, it doesn't go under as far as the hood. I have shaved some barrels down so far I had to do this to get the reel on and off the rod.

With the a z series single foot guides, how well does a fohran locking wrap work with these?

I use a toothpick, with a small drop on the end I put it behind the guide foot.

There are gaps even where there is no guide foot, I put some wraps at the winding checks....same result, gaps!
