I’m looking for one A/T Matrix blank AMSJ-843. I don’t see any at Mudhole or GetBit which are my usual sources. Any help is appreciated. My customer wants to match the others I built for him! Thanks

Looking for a Lakeland 5160 seat for a rebuild. I’ve searched the net to no avail. A similar seat with a 1” OD ( chrome ) will suffice. Any help is appreciated. Frank

Spencer, I wish I knew the model number. The specs and data are no longer visible. I’m guessing it was located between the butt and rear split grip. The only visible markings are Loomis GLX. There is a very small GK printed on the label but I’m guessing that is a quality control mark. Other than what I mention, there is nothing else to go by. It is a really nice inshore rod though. I don’t see m

The rod specs are worn off. It’s a 7’ casting rod. Probably a 10-17# M/F rod. Not sure about it’s age but the finish is a clear coat green that looks transparent in the sunlight. I would guess it’s an older one.

Thanks to both for your input. The grips are swiss cheese. I have already removed the seat and grips and am readying the blank for new ones. Glad to know that this will work out! Frank

A Loomis GLX rod and a Shimano Core reel was recently fished from the waters off the Louisiana coast. It has probably been submerged about 6 months as best I can guess. The reel is “toast”. The rod and guides are in great looking condition after removing the coral deposits. Does anyone have an opinion about the integrity of the graphite blank should I rebuild on it? Thanks for your thoughts. Fra

I’m looking to build a 9’ (4 pc.) shore jigging rod for a friend. He wants to target coastal surf species fish. I’m having difficulty finding 4 pc blanks other than fly rod blanks. Any suggestions is appreciated. I was wondering if a fly blank could suit that purpose? His build specs would be med power, moderate action 20-30# line, 1/2- 1oz lures. Thanks, Frank

Had no luck on internet finding what I need. Am currently restoring a wood handle vintage boat rod. I need a chrome plated reel seat with a 24mm ID and 26mm OD. The length of the original is 5-3/4". I bought one from e**y but it is much larger than described. Any help is valued! Frank

Thanks Gary, that sounds about right. Pretty ornamental in appearance. As a matter of fact, that's what my client wants to do, as he is not an angler! Frank

I'm currently replacing a snake guide on an old fly rod. It has a black lacquer finish with a single decal near the butt of the blank. The decal depicts 2 bamboo canes with the word NIKKI on it. It's obviously pretty old was just curious about it's origin. The owner got it at a garage sale years ago. Anyone know about this brand? Thanks, Frank

I recently received a custom color blank from Rodgeeks. Unfortunately it was damaged during shipping. I reported the problem to Mike at Rodgeeks and was shipped a new blank. It arrived within 10 days of being reported and in perfect condition. I want to express my thanks to them and commend their customer service. It was a pleasure having done business with them!

I thought that at first but after deconstruction I observed what I described. This rod may be even older than described to me!

I am trying to find a spool of alternating orange and black wrapping thread, size A-D. I am restoring a 50's era rod for a client and cannot locate this combo. I don't know the thread brand but I measured the pattern and it repeats 18" orange and 8" black. Any help or guidance is appreciated. Frank Budo

Alex, I saw some available on a well known "bid-site". If you need the one I'm thinking you need, search for Featherweight Products Champion reel seat. Hope you find it. I'm in Harahan and do rod repairs and builds. Let me know if I can help you. Frank
