Take them off your radar Jay. It seems Batson don't reply to their emails, requests or confirmation either.

One more thing about this "right on time scheduling"... If it works, every item should be completed a lot quicker because businesses outsource individual products rather than holding stock and doing it themselves..!!!

Hi Chuck, thanks so much for all the info, must have taken some time which is very much appreciated. I know all about this "just in time" scheduling and the huge benefits it can have for any business.. when it works well prices should drop significantly. This "right on time" scheduling is just an ego trip for the business owners who eventually loose focus of pleasing the c

Hi Eric, Thanks for the reply, yes I have tried most brands. I do specialists rods and found over the past 10-11yrs that Calstar build these specific blanks perfect for the job.. I never thought that I would end up abandoning them because they cant supply...... i know i shouldn't be airing my annoyance on here and for that I am sorry.... but sometimes things just need to be said... I will

Hi Kelly, try burnishing only toward the butt end of the rod, the blank is thicker and will actually make the wrap tighter, wiggling your burnishing left to right will only push the thread to the tip end which the blank is thinner and will unwrap.

I'm over it, done and dusted, my last Calstar order through a supplier was 20 blanks on 31st Jan 2017, today is 20th May and my back order of 7 blanks is yet to arrive....not much more to say about this.... Really frustrating...... I keep asking and I always get the same reply, "maybe another 3-4weeks"..its a never ending saga..

Just buy a few different sizes, they are fairly cheap and i think come in .5mm increments. they always come in handy if your doing a few rods. The other way to have a more accurate guess is to draw the blank on paper, full size, you should know the tip and the butt size, go for there, mark out the gimbal, grips reel seat and your there.

spent many sleepless nights with epoxy cracking at the guide feet, and have seemed to have solved the major cracking. if the blank is to soft for the guides, (or the guides are to strong for the blank) the blank will flex over the distance from the far end of one guide foot to the far end of the other guide foot,, the epoxy wont stop the rod from flexing so the epoxy will crack at the end of th

ok, thanks Tom, maybe ive picked up on it because they need 2 different size winding checks, whereas if they all fell into the same size i probably wouldn't have noticed. cheers

Hi everyone, I'm building 5 little game rods all the same, rear grips reel seats foregrips on, all of them line up perfectly, measured for winding checks and things aren't right. these are the sizes i got, 12.9mm, 13.2mm, 13.3mm 12.8mm and 13.2mm.. Ive never come across this before..Has Calstar got a problem or are these blanks not what they say they are..?

Stuart manufacturers DO NOT Reply to emails, so I doubt if they will help me out. Obviously Mudhole sell the complete unit but don't have any backup after the sale.. Can someone tell me if Aftco's ferrule and nuts fits Stuart bent butts.?

happened to me a few years ago, i experimented and put some heavy duty double foot guides on a reasonably light blank, first flex broke at a ring guide, i put it down to the guide feet were to strong and stopped the blank from flexing, so it broke where the flex stopped. "just a thought"

Hi everyone, I have come across about 50 FPS reel seats from sizes16 through to 20, but a little bit unsure about them. hope i can explain this ok...... the only hole through the Fuji hoods metal casing is usually a small rectangle (looks like a clip holding the metal hood on.) well these 50 have a round hole... I'm assuming that these are an old Fuji style but don't really know.....Can anyo

more fine work demands higher prices, its fairly obvious if it takes you longer with more pressure on micro builds, more guides, etc etc then charge more. I think we could all build a 37kg bent butt alot quicker than fiddly can't see guides.!!

I would be lost without power to the wrapper, can do almost anything and everything...its a must have...I have a quick touch clutch to knock it in reverse.

Threadmaster high build was my number 1 until hills valleys and a more bolbus finish over the feet started to look terrible, then I used TM lite build also and amazed at the minimum bubbles and a much thinner application was needed..... Chucked that out also, Try getting TM epoxy off 2 months later,, rock hard and a nightmare....now 3 months into using is Aftcote, love it.. i can you a wizz stic

customer wants a straight and a bent butt for standup work on his 37kg. short bent no problems, will the standard straight butt match with the harness setup or will the straps have to be altered each time. A short straight doesn't seem to be available for 80lb no4.? There must be a good reason why not.? I dont know this good reason does anyone.? lol cheers

Hi Craig That area of flex would be so insignificant. I use a cork grip and sand the front end ( the ramp) to the shape you want, wrap the leather on the grip, I then undercoat the ramp with a light epoxy sand it perfectly smooth then wrap the pattern up the ramp and over the leather or eva or shink rubber about 5mm. one or 2 tops coats and hey presto' jobs done......building a ramp totally out

Hi Brett: Cork sealer, its great, repells stains, seals it nice, gives it a darker warm look about it. it leaves a nice even coat if your as rough as me.......one strange thing though....if you let the first coat dry for to long the second coat is repelled off like water, so make sure you get the second and third coat on before the previous coat dry's to much.

Hi Billy: I had the same phantom pushing guides offline as well.....absolutely no idea how it happens, but i fixed it... when i have them straight the first time, I put a drop of superglue on the wrap where the guide also gets a bit. jobs done,,,,havent had the problem since..

hmmmmmmmm.... another issue raised here I think, Tom L seems to glue the reel seat after he wraps the guides..I personally do it the other way round, glue and finish the grips and reel seat then i wrap the guides, plenty of fine tuning to line the guides up to the reel seat but easily done. plus its very simple to line the reel seat up with the spine first of all, plus if I get into strife with

bubbles aren't contamination. its trapped air escaping thats all, you have an air cavity below where your laying the epoxy, and as the epoxy slowly fills up the cavity the air bubble comes to the top, so on and so on until the cavity is filled up, then no more bubbles. cheers
