Well capt. the Lamiglass folks were at the recent Conclave and were asked that exact question. They say that E glass was used as electrical conduit material and then used in rod making as an afterthought. S glass was produced for sporting use and would have been more popular if graphite had not come out about the same time. Enough history E glass is heavier, slower and used mostly for heavy salt water rods. S glass is more suitable for freshwater rods being lighter and stiffer. Both should be durable enough for any application and much more durable than graphite. Re: s-glass/e-glass durability/action?

From what I've read the material has nothing to do with the action as that comes from the design of the blank's taper. I do have some old Fenwick rods that were made from what they called Fenglass which I believe is what they called their S Glass rods and they are much lighter than the E glass type. If I had the choice I'd go with S Glass. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
