If anyone was fortunate enough to go to the conclave this past week end and has had the opportunity to see or use the new thread wrap software could you please post your comments. Is there more than one brand available, do you know of any distributors that will be providing, and any idea regarding pricing? Your comments are greatly appreciate.

Thank you,

TOM

Years ago a guy name Jim Lee had some software like that. I don't know if it is still available. The new one is from a fellow in Australia and I assume it will be the only one currently available. Seem to recall something from Mud Hole Tackle regarding it. That's all I know.

Tom - I used a beta version of the program for about a month - I really do like it a lot. There are a lot of great features of the program - 3D views of the completed wrap, step by step construction of a pattern, TOS layout, changing colors, the website which will allow users to upload and download patterns.

If you have any specific questions on this program E-Mail them to me and I'll answer them. I believe Mudhole will sell the software, but I am not sure of teh price.

I am just home from the Conclave. I saw the software demo and bought a copy. Mudhole will be carrying it. It is a very powerful tool, with some amazing additions since the beta version. It probably is not for the computer illiterate, however. It is on the sophisticated side, and the author describes it as "technical". But, in my opinion, no more demanding than Microsoft Publisher, for example. As a teaser, I understand a weaving program is in the works! Leon

While it may be difficult to use at first, the website where guys can download patterns will help them understand how to create their own. I created about 75 patterns, and I think the hardest pattern took me 15 minutes (Optical Chevrons)

Mud Hole’s Got It!

Just got back from the awesome Conclave – a big “high-five” to all the many people who put on an outstanding Conclave.

Cutting to the meat in this post – First, it was with great pleasure to meet the creator of VisualWrap, Mr. David Boyle in person (and a big savings on the telephone bill) – the software has exceeded it’s abilities in the beta version. I would say it is not hard to use if you know how to get around most any windows program. If you currently make butt wraps, you can save tons of time trying out new designs in a matter of minutes.

Read more about the software at it’s web site www.visualwrap.com (the site in not complete as David could not finish it before leaving for the USA, but he assured us it will be his first project when he returns). The ability to exchange wrap patterns on the web & discuss wrapping in general will lead this web site to become the center of butt wrapping information.

This software is a modern version on Jim Lee’s software. Visualwrap takes full advantage of the Windows environment. David has spent 4 years developing it and the thoughtful layout, help files and wizards show the care of his development. The software has too many features to mention, just when you thought of something it lacked, David would show us the feature. The software’s ability to calculate the off-set tapered center axis points alone make a huge time saver to laying out your wraps.

We know have the software in stock and it can be ordered from our web site by following the link below or by calling us:

PS - For you Alps printer users – you should have seen the light bulbs go on simultaneously above the heads of John Britt, John Knight & myself when David showed the software’s ability to print out the finished butt wrap patterns tapered to the exact scale of your rod! I can see designing some really complicated butt wrap in VisualWrap, printing it out on the Apls printer in metallic and CYMK colors and just sticking it on the blank like a decal.

Is the price of the software the same from all vendors on the left menu as is the price from visualwrap.com?
