What is the most common size and type of Alconite guide for the stripper guide on the spiral wrap setup? Re: Sprial wrap guides

Depends on the type and power of rod you are referring to. Could you be more specific? Shot in the dark , but I typically build med/hvy to hvy bass casting rods 8-20lb ranges. Usually my stipper is a 12, some of this depends on the reel setup. I like to have the customers reel to put on the rod when setting up the guides. Basic goal is no acute angles, no piling of line, and prevent line from touching blank (or hand) under heavy load. With a few more specific, we can get you close, but ultimately it comes down to testing. 12-16 size range should take care of most any rod in this category. Re: Sprial wrap guides

I use a 16 striper and a size 12 next then step it down acording to the size rod and customer wishes. I have found that this combination works the best in most cases. The biggest determinig factor is how far from the reel seat the first guide is placed to get the best results and limiting the amount of line slap.
