Do you use cp on metalics? Why or why not. Re: cp on ht metalics?

It's optional. Most metallics don't require it in order to hold their color or sheen. But it won't a thing if you use CP on it. No difference really. .............. Re: cp on ht metalics?

Some builders feel that the use of metallics causes more bubbles with the finish and will use CP to prevent this,as Tom said it is optional at least with the Ht metallic thread, some from other companies thread does require the use of CP,hope this helps John Re: cp on ht metalics?

I have tried both ways. I found I was just wasting CP. Couldn't tell a difference. Elrod Re: cp on ht metalics?

I have had some minimal color bleeding on HT Metallics which CP would protect against, but it was just a tiny amount that didn't affect the finished product. I don't use CP on Gudebrod metallics but I go with a light coat of epoxy to displace air before doing the typical 3 coast of LS Supreme. Oy, that sentence had absolutely no flow. If you use Madeira metallics, or any other metallic thread whihc is used for embroidery, you may NEED to use CP. I have only used Madeira mettalix, but I do know the thread is coated with some "lubricating agent" to help it slide through the needles in a production factory. This may or may not cause a reaction with epoxy. I lazied on my last underwrap and just applied epoxy with no CP - and had to wick most of it off as the epoxy had some big fisheyes. Not a big deal - it was on the tie off of a butt wrap. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
