i have recently began building custom rods for myself and enjoy very much my question being when doing a stress test for guide placement towhere the line does not interfere with the blank, will it be the same for all rods, surf, boat, trolling etc:if not please clarify.

Pretty much yes. You want the line to closely follow the curve the blank forms when it is under a pretty good load. With spinning and fly rods you don't have to worry about it touching the blank but you still want to follow the rod curve without any large flat spots. 1 guide per foot of rod length is a good starting point as long as you understand that you may have to add or remove 1 or 2 either way. The size and height of you guides also determines how many you may need to do the job.

Search the archives for things like "guide placement" and especially "new concept guide placement". This is the most critical aspect of rod building, not hard, but critical. Be sure and gather all the info you can on this topic. Guide placement can "make" or "break" (sometimes literally) a rod.
