Do you make your own cork pistol grips or is it better just to buy them? Re: pistol grips

You can buy oversized cork rings and make them yourself. Turn the diameters you need on a lathe then take a block sander and flatten the sides. However, I just buy them. For the price versus labor and time, it is worth it to just buy them. The only drawback to prebuilt is reaming into a deadend hole. Lots of stopping, tapping out all the dust, stop, tap , stop, tap, ........ Re: pistol grips

if you will check the size of your blank before you order the pistol grips several places stock verious sizes so the end work is not that bad also if u have a cork ring press u can saw off the very end let's say 1/4 -5/16 of an inch with a fine tooth hacksaw blade now u have an open end for which reaming will not be a problem , then use some large pins i.e. 1/32 -1/16 " in dia and you can reepoxy the grip just like makeing a regular butt or fore grip .... hope this helps and remember tightwraps........ Take a drill and pop a hole all the way thru the pistol grip. That way you can ream it just like a standard cork grip. Use a tapered cork plug to fill the hole. Sand the plug fluch with the existing grip. Bob McKamey -- Custom Tackle Supply Re: pistol grips
