Thread size and colour?

Hi All,

What size of wrapping thread should I use for a 4 weight Sage XP blank when using the new Fuji Alconite guides? A, B, C, or ?

Also, anyone with thoughts on a nice thread color for the dark dark green blank color of the XP would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Preston

Preston:

A size thread is standard for light and medium weight fly rods. You have some choices on colrs and accents. May suggest a dandy combo: Gudbrod 5896 (dark green) for wrapping the guides; Gudbrod 9358 (metallic green: for single thread trim ring or end trim rings. An alternative would be to use Gudbrod 9000 metalic gold thread for the trim rings. I've used both and prefer the subtile approach the first offers. Your choice.

Preston,
I just finished a Lamiglas Perigee using Gudbrod med. yellow thread no preserver w/ metallic gold trim. Really sharp looking. The yellow thread allows the green blank color to bleed through turning the wrap a medium to light olive.

Dennis,
What about the guide foot showing through the thread? It seems the black guide foot would show through the yellow but then again the guide is on the under side of the rod. Just curious about the foot showing through.

For XP, one option is "A" (size for flyrods), Gudebrod: Dark Green with metallic wraps, as said above, or Med green with No Colour preserver AND NO TRIP WRAPS.
Hope this Helps narrowing your search.
