I am new at this rod building, and have purchased everything needed to build a rod, except for the rod bonding agent. Should I order some from a rod building supply store, or can I buy epoxy at a local hardware store. If so, what particular brand etc? Thanks for the help and information on this board. If you are pushed for time and need to get underway, then "Devcon 2-Ton Slow Cure" epoxy can be used to perform most rod building tasks with excellent results. I will assume you will be using regular epoxy wrap finish (a bit different than epoxy adhesive) such as those from Flex Coat or U-40 on your thread wraps. ......... Re: Forgot to buy exoxy

Just as Tom mentioned, but for future use, I think you would really like U40 Rod Bond. The reason being is twofold. Long potlife, and it is a paste-like consistency. Won't run everywhere and where you put it, it stays. I used Devcon at first and always got it all over the place. On the threads in the realseat, on the blank where I didn't want it, ect.... I thing to do, completely cover your realseat with electrical tape during construction, this keeps epoxies and scratches from getting on it. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
