what blank to buy

Hello Again I am going to build a rod for casting eels to striped bass. I have narrowed the blank slection down to a few blanks & would like to know if anyone has experance or prefrence with these blanks. They are all lamiglas. #1 is graphite 8' long Model # GLB961MH, #2 is graphite 7'6" long Model # CGX90MH, and #3 is composite 8' long CMB963M.. I will be using sic guides and would also like your apinion on how many guides i will need.. Again thanks for your help. Rick Gilman Re: what blank to buy

I have no direct experience with any of the blanks you list, although I know they are highly thought of by many striper fishermen. You will need about 8 guides, give or take one either way maybe, for blanks in the 8' catagory. Wish I could be more specific but you'll have to string it up and see how many are required. ............. Re: what blank to buy

Rick, I would suggest that you ask Al Goldberg your question. Al has been building rods for almost every striped bass technique for many, many years. He's very familiar with the blanks you've listed, or at least, I remember him mentioning several of those models in previous posts of his on stripersonline.com. He has his own forum on that website.
