Clemens used to sell pieces of scrap rod blanks. Another good source is your local yard sale scene. You can often pick up old rods of any type, length, size, etc., for just a couple of dollars each. Buy a handful and you'll be set for awhile.

For practicing wraps, the old wooden dowel will work pretty well.

One thing you have to realize though, is that it is rare to ever have the exact piece you need for repair. I must have 200 old busted rods and blanks here and rarely am able to find the exact piece I need. That's just the way it goes.

Jim.
Send me an E-Mail of what you need. I have scrap blanks from the purchase of the Fisher Fly Rod Co.

All of your major discount stores like Wally World, Kmart, etc. have broken rods that they occasionally just throw away. Salvage surplus and some tackle shops often have the same.

You can strip the guides for repair work and use the blanks for scrap.

I had the same problem, and I ended up just buying a couple of $5 blanks from Mudhole's clearance section.

Ended up being cheaper than buying scraps!
