Montague Rods

Yesterday while cleaning out my uncles house I found two Montague rods and was wondering if anyone could give me any information on them. Both rods are in cardboard tubes with metals caps. The label on one tube states it was made by Montague Rod and Reel Company, World's Largest Makers of Split Bamboo Rods, Montague City, Mass.
One rod tube label says 1-4 8 1/2' Med. Holloglas 3pc. Fly. The other one says Montague-Flash fine split bamboo fishing rod Medium Trout 9.
The bamboo rod is three peice with two tips. The only markings on the rod besides the Montague decal is where it says Genuine Tonkin. I'm guessing that these rods were probably bought in the fifties and it doesn't appear that they have ever been used. I would appreciate any information I could get on these, thanks.

Montague was a prolific maker of bamboo rods (all types) for many, many years. They built lower to mid level rods for the mainstream fishing public. For the most part, they have never become very collectible, although a like-new model with bag and tube would surely have some value. They may be a bit older than you imagine, possibly dating back to the 40's.

I haven't kept up with pricing on Montague rods, but would guess than in very, very good condition with good bags and tubes they might be worth $100 each.

I have recently seen a few Montague bamboo fly rods being offered on @#$%&. Some might still be active @#$%& but you can also check the completed @#$%& to see the final prices for the rods. This might help you determine a relative value.
