Salmon and Steelhead rods is a somewhat generic term that can describe a wide variety of actions, line sizes and lengths. Spey and Two Handed rods are generally long (11'-15'), and are designed to be used with the traditional spey casting methods which is essentially a modified roll cast. They are capable of laying out enormous amounts of line and eliminate the need to strip line in after every cast. To learn more about spey casting I recoment either Jim Vincent's or Mel Krieger's video. Salmon and Steelhead rods are of course also available in standard single hand models which are still more popular but are being slowly overtaken by spey rods because of the spey rods reach and ease of casting. Hope that helps. cwinston@whitesoutdoor.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
