Discontinued Blank Rumour

I heard a rumour that St. Croix was discontinuing the Legend Ultra 7'6" 3wt. for 2004. Is there any truth to these rumours?

Mike,
From all indications only the 2 pc. SCIV fly blanks in all weights are to be discontinued. The travel blanks in multi piece however, will continue to be produced. This is what is aware to me, anyway.

I received my St. Croix Distributor program and 2004 blank catalog in the mail on Saturday. That model and several of the shorter, lower line weight models have been dis-continued. All SCIV fly blanks are either 4 pc. or new 5 pc. models. The shortest and lowest line weight is a 8'-6" 4wt. 4 pc. model. I contacted St. Croix a couple of weeks ago and that model has been sold out and will not be produced. If you can find one anywhere, you may want to snatch it up. That's the scoop.

I got the same story from their CS department, in fact, they had shut down production and were out of stock on the 2 piece 7'6" AVID series but were supposed to start up again in Sept, I'm still waiting for two AVID fly blanks.

ALL of the Legend Ultras *as they are made now* are being discontinued.

There will still be a St. Croix rod line sold under the name "Legend Ultra," but they will not be the same rods. A St. Croix representative posted this info. (on this board) a few months ago in response to a post I started- a search should turn this up.
