Stripprer placement

I'm building a 6' 3wt. rod on a St. Croix SCIII blank. The guy I am building it for strips line through the second finger of the hand that is on the handle. When he shoots lin he releases it with both hands, one being the hand on the handle. He never reaches to the stripper except to loop the line over the second finger on the handle. Is the static distribution tes the only concern I have with stripper placement?

Also I plan to use gold cermet guides with titanium frames. I will start with a 10# high frame double footed stripper, then a #8 single foot spinning guide, then #6 fly guides to the tip. If this set up is screwy I would like to know as the price of the guides is scary.

Thanks
Jim

Check the latest Rodmaker magazine for Don Morton's article, which covers where to place the stripper better than I can tell you (I have some interesting ideas on where to place Strippers - not appropriate here though)

tell him to go back to casting school! no, just kidding, I think that you gotta use the usual method to locate it, because invariably he does reach for the line, even if less often than most people, and it should be where he can get it. just whatch his hand when he grabs for it to put it in the other hand, then go from there.
