Just wondering if anyone out there made there own vertical spine finder. I like the one in Clemens catalog, but would like to see if I can do it for less than $40. I have heard the marble in divot method, but would prefer something similar to the productions ones. Thanks in advance. Elrod (Jon) Re: How to make vertical spine finder?

Plans were in the July/August 2000 issue of RodMaker. It really a very simple contraption. You need based holding a bearing that supports a cone which the blank butt fits down onto. Then some type of hard surface, or even better another bearing fitted with a cup, for the tip to fit into. That's about it. The marble method works okay. The more free spinning your rod butt is, and the more stable your base, the easier things will be on you. ................ Re: How to make vertical spine finder?

I use my live center from my lathe. I just lay it on the floor and ther you have it. Set it back on the lathe bed. Get more out your equipment that way. Bruce Young Landing Gear Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
