St.Croix Handle Question

This is the first time I have used a St. Croix Handle Kit. I am using a St. Croix 2c70MF blank with a CG-21 handle kit. The kit has a plug that goes in the end of the handle. Do I bring the blank all the way back to the end of the handle then trim back the plug to go inside the blank or do I leave enough room to just push the plug in and meet the blank about 1/4 inch for the end.
Thanks
Al Bassett

Al,
You can leave a little room at the back, say less than 1/4" between the blank butt and the edge of the rubberized cork end, dab some rod bond in there and push the plug in tight. Let is set and trim flush with a sharp blade and lightly sand after if necessary. Done this way will leave a nice clean finish.
