hey every one thanks for all the help?

Im about to attempt turning my own grips.

My question is do you inlet the rings for a uplock seat before you glue them together or do you glue rings first and then inlet? im using .25" rings

Also what technique or tools do you use (dremel tool ?) Id rather not experiment as the cork im using is rather pricey. many thanks,

Happy wrapping "John"

I have done it both ways, and I have found it easier useing a Dremel tool on the cork rings before I glue them together.. Thanks Dave

I'd be interested in hearing more detail on the use of the Dremel tool. What kind of bit/drill/reamer are you using in the Dremel?

You can bore the ring to the correct ID for the seat hood and then carefully rake the ID against a common wood rasp to get a shape that is almost perfect for most seat hoods. On some seat hoods that have very little flare, simply boring the ID to the correct size is all that is required.

If you go the Dremel route, put the seat hood against the ring and trace its outline on the cork. Remove the material within the outline.

I have tried the drill bit and I didnt like it so I use the drum sander.. I guess thats what you call it, because you can replace the sanding drum... Thanks Dave
